INITIATIVE
Join us in the countdown to President Ronald Reagan’s 100th Birthday! President Reagan served two terms as
the 40th President of the United States. As the Centennial of his birth approaches in February 2011, we are
asking you to help us celebrate the life and legacy of this truly great leader while mobilizing supporters and
volunteers.
Many have noted that President Reagan’s leadership in the Cold War played an important role in the legacy of
his image as an extraordinary leader. A 2009 poll names Reagan as the county’s most popular President of the
last 30 years (December 2009, Public Policy Polling).
The Republican National Committee is planning a full year of exciting events, programs, and initiatives to
commemorate the life of this remarkable President. There are many ways you can participate in the
countdown to Reagan’s birthday in your community. Please see the enclosed packet for suggestions on ways
to bring the Reagan 99 Initiative to you.
Reagan 99 Volunteer Recruitment recognizes Reagan’s support of volunteerism and asks you to recruit 99 new
volunteers to your State and County Party headquarters to help us win in 2010. Reagan once called volunteer
work “an aspect of American character that is as fundamental to our way of life as our freedom to speak,
assemble, and worship.”
Thank you in advance for your hard work on behalf of Republicans in your state. The celebration is not only a
wonderful opportunity to honor the legacy of President Reagan, but it is also a chance to engage new
Republicans and energize our current activists. For more information, please contact the RNC Coalitions
Department at (202) 863-8518 or coalitions@gop.com.
Sincerely,
Angela Sailor
