Treat teachers as the professional that they are by increasing salaries based on student
achievement and giving teachers the autonomy to develop a cumculum that is student-
centered and not merely test-driven.
Work with the Board of Education to develop a policy to require Parental Involvement
Hours for students to advance to the next grade level as well as graduate, much like the
existing Community Service H u m requirements
Partner with Iocal churches for the adoption of each public school in the County to
provide mentoring, tutoring and other services that students need.

Work with the Maryland General Assembly to raise the high s c h d drop out age ta 1S
years of age.

Work with the Maryland General Assembly to bring school surcharge dollars to impacted
communities for the building of new schools, particularly in Di-Strict9.

Public Safety Platfom

Support our public safety agencies with enforcing the reduction in police and fire/EMS
responsr: tirnes and continued reduction in the County's crime statistics.
Encourage and support communities with establishing iVgtghborh~odWafchprograms in
collaboration with Police Districts.
Support the adoption of the Deferred RetiTemcnt Option Program. which will enable
more experienced police officers to remain on the force and working in our communities.
Work with Mary laud General A s ~ r n b l yto bring public safety surcharge dollars to
impacted communities for the building of new police precincts and fire stations in
District 9.

These will be accomplished by setting prioritiw through consultationwith

County coostituenh, building consensus and collaborating with colleagues at
all levels of government on how to achieve these goals.

Sustainable Economic Development PIatform

I will support sustainable land use policies that spur economic development,
protect the equity of landlhomeowners, and ensure development &odd focus on
revitalizing the Branch Avenue Metro corridor and the Camp Springs, Clinton and
Upper Marlboro communities that surround Joint Base Andrew Naval Air
Facility Washington (formerly Andrew Air Force Base) by increasing
employment opportunities.

Require all Department of Defense contractors to have a Readiness

OflicelCampus within 10-1 5 mile radius of Joint Base Andrews. This will bring
much needed employment to the area and will revitalizethe communities around
the Base.
Use our resources wisely to support local s m d businesses and non-profits
organizations as incubators for green technology.
Create public-private partnerships with local, regional and national businesses to
expand investment, growth and development in Prince George's County.

Education PIatform

We must increase student academic achievement through a rigorous curriculum

that will prepare students for careers and college. This can be accomplished when
