number or is off scale completely, merely turn screw on back until

the pointer is on 95. The humidity indicator will then start to operate
again. To maintain accuracy of the instrument, it is advisable to repeat
this procedure every six months.

DIRECTIONS FOR HOWARD MILLER

WEATHER INSTRUMENTS
Barometer
Disregard the words Rain, Change and Fair as these are only traditional
zones on a barometer dial. Your barometer indicating hand will never
move all the way to Rain to predict inclement weather. The normal
operating range of movement for your barometer indicating hand is
from 29.5 to 30.5 inches of mercury. Your most extreme readings
would occur before a hurricane or tornado when barometers have
dropped as low as 28.5 inches of mercury: or, at the other extreme,
if very fair, dry weather is to come, your barometer may rise to 30.9
inches of mercury.
The following procedure, if done every 12 hours, or morning and
evening, should give you the best results.
1. Tap the instrument lightly to release any latent action.
2. Record the inches of mercury as indicated by the barometer hand.
This is your momentary reading. Some barometer models have a set
hand which can be positioned directly over the barometer hand. At a
later period you will be able to notice in what direction the barometer
hand has moved since the last setting.
If it moves to the right (clockwise), you have a rising barometer which
usually means a change for the better or continued good weather.
If the reading is to the left (counterclockwise), you have a falling
barometer which usually means a change for the worse. A steady
barometer means no change. For accurate weather predictions, it is
highly important that your barometer be adjusted to sea level. The
correct sea level reading can be obtained form your Weather Bureau
or television weather forecasts.
Readings obtained from your barometer indicate weather conditions
that may prevail within the next 24 to 48 hours, providing wind
direction and velocity remain the same as when readings were
obtained.

Adjustment of the Barometer

In the event that your barometer does not read exactly like the reading
obtained from your local weather forecast, the instrument should be
adjusted. Adjustment can be made from the back of the instrument.
Adjust the barometer hand by turning the adjustment screw located in
the hole in the back of the instrument.

Clock (if applicable)

To set time on movement remove back cover of movement housing
for access to battery compartment. Install (1) AA alkaline battery
(not included). The battery must be installed with the positive (+)
side located as indicated on the battery compartment. The hands
should be set by turning the knob on the back of the movement in the
direction of the arrow until the hands indicate actual time.
Caution: When clock stops remove battery immediately and replace
with new LEAKPROOF battery of the appropriate size.

Hygrometer
The Hygrometer or Humidity Indicator is designed for indoor use.
While indoor and outdoor barometric pressures are identical, this
is not true of the relative humidity. Therefore remember that this
instrument indicates the humidity of the room atmosphere which
has no relation to the outdoor humidity readings announced on the
weather reports.
Adjustment of the Hygrometer

Thermometer
The mercury type thermometer is fitted with a glass tube exhausted
of air. During shipment, the liquid (mercury) in the tube may be
separated. If so, this can be remedied by tapping the bottom of the
thermometer (or the entire instrument) against the ball of your thumb.
The liquid will thus form a solid column again.
Horizontal and Vertical Hanging of Nautical Weather Instruments and
Clocks
Inserted fit ups of clocks and weather instruments may be rotated
allowing the case to be hung in a horizontal or vertical position. To
do this pull outward on rim bezel to remove fit up from the case. On
some instruments by unscrewing the bezel, the dial can be rotated
from the inside. This will enable you upon choice to hang the case
from a horizontal or vertical position.

LIMITED WARRANTY
This product has been carefully manufactured using only the very
finest of materials. The movement has been subjected to rigorous
tests. Your Howard Miller product is warranted to be free from defects
in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from date of
purchase.
If a difficulty develops with the product as a result of a defect in
materials or workmanship, the Howard Miller Clock Company will
repair or replace the product at the factory or its Authorized Service
Station, at its option. Transportation charges to and from the repair
location must be paid by the purchaser.
In the event of a defect or malfunction, you should notify the Howard
Miller Clock Company, Zeeland, Michigan 49464, Attention: Service
Department , of the product defect or malfunction. Include your
complete name, address, telephone number, the model number of
the product, and the date and place of purchase. Performance of
warranty obligations will be arranged by the Howard Miller Clock
Company upon receipt of the above notification.
The liability of the Howard Miller Clock Company is limited to the
repair or replacement described above and this warranty is extended
to the purchaser in lieu of all other remedies, including INCIDENTAL
and CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. (Some states do not allow the
exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above
limitation on exclusion may not apply to you.)
This warranty is void if the product is serviced by any one other than
the Howard Miller Clock Company or one of its Authorized Service
Stations unless prior written authorization is granted by the Howard
Miller Clock Company Service Department.
This warranty is limited to the original consumer purchaser of this
product.

Due to transportation, this instrument may be off scale. To adjust put

damp cloth on the back of the humidity indicator for 20 minutes.
The scale should then read approximately 95.

DIRECCIONES PARA INSTRUMENTOS

CLIMATOLOGICOS DE HOWARD MILLER
Barmetro
No se fije en las palabras Lluvia, Cambio y Templado, ya que estas
son las zonas tradicionales de un barmetro. La manecilla indicadora
de su barmetro nunca se mover hasta Lluvia para predecir clima
inclemente. El rango operativo normal de movimiento para su
barmetro es de 29.5 a 30.5 pulgadas de mercurio. Las posiciones
ms extremosas normalmente ocurriran antes de un huracn o
tornado, cuando los barmetros han registrado hasta 28.5 pulgadas
de mercurio; o al otro extremo, si se aproxima clima templado y seco,
su barmetro puede registrar hasta 30.9 pulgadas de mercurio.
A continuacin detallamos el procedimiento que, si se sigue cada 12
horas, o en la manana y la tarde, le darn los mejores resultados:
Golpee el instrumento ligeramente para iniciar cualquier accin
latente.
Anote las pulgadas de mercurio que indica la manecilla del barmetro.
Este es un registro temporal.
Algunos barmetros tienen otra manecilla que se puede posicionar
encima de la manecilla indicadora. Posteriormente podr notar en qu
direccin se movi el barmetro desde el ultimo posicionamiento.
Si se mueve hacia la derecha, indica un incremento, lo cual quiere
decir que habr una mejora en el clima o que continuar el clima
agradable. Si se mueve hacia la izquierda, indica una baja en la
presin atmosfrica, lo cual significa que el clima probablemente
empeorar. Cuando no cambia el barmetro, significa que el clima no
cambiar. Para predecir correctamente el clima, es muy importante
que su barmetro sea ajustado al nivel del mar. Puede conseguir la
posicin correcta con respecto al nivel del mar comunicndose con la
dependencia gubernamental en su pas que supervise las condiciones
climatolgicas.
Los registros obtenidos de su barmetro indican las condiciones
climatolgicas que sucitarn en las prximas 24 a 48 horas, siempre
y cuando la velocidad y direccin del viento sean las mismas que
cuando se registr la presin baromtrica.

Ajustes al barmetro
En caso de que su barmetro no indique la presin igual que los
pronosticadores de la televisin, tendr que ajustar el instrumento.
Los ajustes pueden ser por la parte de atrs del barmetro. Ajuste
la manecilla por medio del tornillo que se encuentra en el hoyo en la
parte de atrs del instrumento.

Reloj (en case de ser aplicable)

Para poner la hora, retire la cubierta posterior del mecanismo, para
obtener el acceso al compartimiento de la batera. Instale una (1) pila
AA alcalina (no incluida). La batera debe ser instalada como lo indica
el compartimiento, con el lado positivo (+) de acuerdo a lo indicado.
Las manecillas son ajustadas dndole vuelta a la perilla en la parte
posterior del mecanismo, en la direccin de la flecha hasta que las
manecillas indiquen la hora correcta.
Precaucin:
Cuando el reloj se detenga, retire la batera
inmediatamente, y reemplzcala con una batera del mismo tamano.

Higrmetro
El higrmetro o Indicador de Humedad fu disenado para uso interior.
Mientras que la presin baromtrica es la misma adentro o afuera,
este no es el caso con la humedad relativa. Por lo tanto, recuerde que
este instrumento indica la humedad atmosfrica de alguna habitacin,
lo cual no se relaciona con el nivel o porcentaje de humedad que se
anuncian en reportes climatolgicos.

Al hacer esto, debe registrar aproximadamente 95. Si ste no indica

95, o si est totalmente fuera de equilibrio, dele vuelta al tornillo en
la parte de atrs hasta que indique 95. El indicador de humedad
comenzar a funcionar nuevamente. Para mantener la precisin del
instrumento, recomendamos repita este procedimiento cada seis
meses.

Termmetro
El termmetro de mercurio est compuesto por un tubo de cristal al
vaco. Durante el embarque, el lquido (mercurio) en el tubo puede
separarse. En caso de que suceda, puede golpear ligeramente la parte
de abajo del termmetro (o el instrumento completo) con el dedo
gordo. El lquido debe formar una columna slida.
Para colgar los Instrumentos Nuticos y Relojes en posicin Vertical
u Horizontal
Los receptores insertados del reloj e instrumentos nuticos pueden ser
rotados de tal manera que permita colgarlos horizontal o verticalmente.
Para hacer esto, jale la orilla de la cartula de tal manera que pueda
retirar el receptor de la base. En algunos instrumentos, al desatornillar
la cartula puede girar el instrumento desde adentro. Esto le permitir
escoger colgarlo de una manera horizontal o vertical.
