District School Service

Month
One of the main focuses this year for District 308 B2 Leo Cabinet is to
promote school services among Alpha Leo Clubs. It is always believed that
school is the closest community to the children and it is the place where
their services should be focusing on. For that, in collaboration with the
Ministry of Education (MOE), Malaysia, District 308 B2 Leo Cabinet has
declared January 2016 as the School Services Month.

During the month, Alpha Leo Clubs are encouraged to conduct school
services projects within their school compound itself. January 2016 was
chosen because it is the month where the new school year starts and
certainly there will be a lot of area where the services of the Leos are
needed.

1 How did you join Leo?

I joined Alpha Leo since 1999 13 years old during school orientation day. At that time, I don't
even know what Leo is and my senior told me that is the service organization which do a lot
of charity so I joined it. After few year, I only realised Leo is not only the service club, Leo
have a lot of different type of activity and training.
2 What is your greatest experience in Leo?
17 years in Leo, the greatest experience for me is no other than the year I being Leo District
President. During my presidency, I organize a trip together some of the omega in our district
go over Medan Indonesia MD307 Leo convention. This is the 1st time I visit to other district
Leo and realize there was a lot of different culture between us. So I wish in future, District
President can contact more Leos from other districts to exchange the idea of project.

3 What do you think is the greatest gain for yourself after joining the Leo?
Before I join Leo, I am a shy boy who does not really like to communicate with people. Leo is
the organization which trained me to become a leader, train me how to communicate with
people and how to chair a proper meeting, which applies to my carrier today.
4 What has made you decided to join Lions?
After 17 years in Leo, I understand that Lions Clubs international have a lot of good program
which is beneficial to the youth, self-development, community and environment. Being such a
good organization, I cant find any reason why not to continue in the Lion movement

5. Why did you not join an existing Lions Club but instead charter a new one?
Member fees are the main concern of why I didnt join the existing Lions. serve within our
ability, is what I always told my club members. Therefore, my sponsoring Lions Club
supports me together with their daughters and sons to charter this new Lions Club.
6.What is the greatest challenge thus far being the charter president?
Charter a new Lions Club is not easy when most of the members are new to the
organization. But I am so lucky that they are experienced in other association and the most
important is they are willing to learn.

7. How will you expect your collaboration with Leo after being a Lion?
Leo is the program that trained me to become who I am today, Leo is future Lions, I will
support whatever I can do just like how the Lions have supported me previously when I was
still a Leo.
8. If there is a piece of advice for the current Leo, what will it be?
When we are given opportunity to lead the club or project, just do it. Dont worry about
making mistakes; a great leader is always learning from mistakes.

Regional Leolympics 2016

Region 1

Unlike previous years, Region 1 Leolympics for this year is totally different in
which many clubs are formed in one "Company" and compete with other
companies. One of good things that observed from this year Leolympics is the
Leos can work together with each others just for one goal, that is to win the
game for its companies despite they are from different clubs. Apart from that,
Leos did enjoy the game as they treat it as a fellowship games instead of highly
competitive match.
