Beth has proven to be a very able and hardworking student who has given full

commitment to study on the HNC Creative Media Production course this year. Beth has
really matured during her time on the level 4 course can always be relied upon to
produce work of the highest standard. She is well organised and self-motivated when
working upon Unit assignments. She is polite and well mannered and will progress well
with the challenges a university can offer. It is expected that Beth will definitely achieve
a distinction or merit grade on the HNC. She works well both in small groups and
independently and she is respectful when on location shoots or within the regular
learning environment and demonstrated some good analytical skills whilst also being
open to constructive criticism; she
Beth has an excellent attendance record this year and her timekeeping is faultless.
With Film Studies, Beth has continued to develop her skills from A level. Excellent good
progress has been made with developing her independent research techniques and
also her ability to plan and produce short features and video productions. She works
well with all group assignments and has shown good appreciation for advanced
theoretical perspectives in both world cinema debates and experimental forms. She
integrates new concepts quickly into her existing knowledge and shows ability to debate
key issues in the subject area. She has also developed a capacity to explore and
appreciate the deeper meanings within texts and offer perceptive interpretations within
her analyses. Recently when Beth, together with all the HNC students, was given the
opportunity to meet industry professionals she was highly responsive and articulate.
During the Q&As and also the informal seminars, Beth was able to present examples of
her own work and engage these filmmakers in subject specific discourse.
From Beths experience of A level Photography she has drawn upon some excellent
technical skills and has continued to foster a good practical working ethic. She has also
retained an open mind and can draw upon her own interests to complete assignments
for the Creative Media Production course. Good research skills have also been
developed on a number of assignments and these techniques have been assessed
effectively through comprehensive reflective evaluation. Her written work has definitely
developed during HNC study; she can now use specialist language to convey meaning
successfully and efficiently. Beths ability to analyse thoroughly also shows the capacity
to reflect soundly and make valid judgments. Beth, clearly, is a well-motivated student
who has shown the ability to be both creative and analytical. She is extremely keen on
the subject and has made every effort to develop a skillset that allows her to work
independently.
Beth has always shown strong personal qualities during her time at the College and has
impressed the teaching staff with her attitude and commitment. She is mature at all
times and has worked effectively with several commercial clients on a number of
production projects. She is also a very personable student, committed to study and one
who is determined to develop academically. She is ideally suited to Higher Education
and would benefit from being in an academic environment that encouraged her to reach
her full potential. I, therefore, wholeheartedly support this application.
