Since the release of the first in the Twilight series in 2005, the books have gained
immense popularity and commercial success around the globe. The series is most popular among
young adults. Probably what makes the series exciting is the fact that it dwells on a universal
concept: love. Add to it is a twist that the main character Bella is falling for two supernatural
characters.
Bellas life gains meaning in her discovery of Edward Cullen, a debonair vampire,
whose mystery she could not help but adore. But Jacob Black, strangely a werewolf, also comes
into the picture, who arrives at a time when Edward unexplainably leaves Bella. The conflict
happens when Edward comes back reclaiming Bella. At the background are bad vampires
pursuing revenge to the Cullens and Bella. Bella gets a friend too in Alice Cullen, Edwards
petite vampire sister. Yet she finds an anti-thesis also in the person of Rosalie, Edwards jealous
sibling. The series proves that love is stronger than death. Also, it highlights the possibility that
love is eternal.
