Lynn police arrest five on drug, weapons charges

LYNN - A Lynn man is held on $25,000 cash bail after he was arrested for illegal possession of
a firearm and ammunition, as well as other charges. Five others were also arrested.

Tyla Monteiro, 20, of 8 Landers Ave. #1, was arrested and charged with possession of crack
cocaine, a class B substance, with the intent to distribute; school zone violation; possession of a
firearm without an FID card; illegal possesion of ammunition; and an open container violation on
Friday around 2:30 a.m.

While Monteiro was being booked, he stated the .38 caliber handgun found in the trunk of the
vehicle was his. While in the holding cell, officers located two twists of crack cocaine in his
sock, which was confiscated.

Kerlin Aubourg, 21, of 25 Clarendon St. #2, Malden, Ali McMillan, 20, of 58 Rogers Ave. #3,
and Andre T. Sanders, 23, of 94 Hanover St. #2, were all arrested and charged with possession of
crack cocaine, a class B substance, with intent to distribute; school zone violation; possession of
a firearm without an FID card; illegial possession of ammunition and an open container
violation.

Aubourg was released on $5,000 cash bail, McMillan was released on $1,500 cash bail and
Sanders was held with the option of a $2,000 cash bail out.

Toniea Coleman, 22, of 281 Summer St., was arrested and charged with possession of crack
cocaine, a class B substance, with intent to distribute; school zone violation; possession of a
firearm without an FID card; illegal possession of ammunition; open container violation;
possession of marijuana, a class D substance; and no inspection sticker.

During booking, $2,157 was seized from Coleman and believed to be proceeds of illegal drug
sales. A cell phone was also seized. A bag of marijuana was found on her person during booking,
which was taken and given to one of the police officers. Coleman was released on $7,500 cash
bail.

Bails were set by the Honorable Judge James LaMothe and all five of the arrested have a pretrial
hearing date on June 9.

An on duty officer was stopped at a red light on Essex Street when he noticed a black Honda
Civic with five occupants passing through the intersection on Chatham Street. As they drove by,
the officer noticed a strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle and followed
their path. After he ran the registration he discovered the vehicle was owned by Toniea Coleman
and there was no inspection sticker on the vehicle.

The officer pulled the car over on Marianna Street and asked the female operator, identified as
Coleman, for her license and registration and informed her she was being stopped because of the
strong smell of marijuana coming from her vehicle and her invalid inspection sticker. The officer
returned to his cruiser to wait for back up.
When back up arrived at the scene, the occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle and were
searched for contraband. Kerlin Aubourg, who was sitting in the passenger seat, did not have
drugs on his person but was in possession of a large sum of money.

The rear passengers were removed and identified as Ali McMillan, Andre Sanders and Monteiro.
Sanders and Monteiro were both in possession of small bags of marijuana, which they admitted
to having once they stepped out of the vehicle. Three pints and one 750 ml bottle of Hennessy
were found, opened, in the back seat.

Upon further search of the vehicle,the handgun was found in the trunk and was loaded with five
rounds. All five suspects were read their Miranda Rights and were taken into custody. A further
search of the vehicle uncovered a clear plastic bag in the coin holder with approximately .7
grams of crack cocaine.
