Material for an Article on the Ehsigns

The Apostle,to the Gentiles spoke of an open door"a great door and

effectual is opened"*

The Grayson Ensigns have had an e^qperience of

closed doors and an open one*

mien Brother Ensign felt led of the Lord to resign from the Cin^^i

cinnati Bible Seminary in Aprils 1953 it was his firm conviction that
the Lord would open some other door* For three months doors were closed^
but one door stood wide openthe door to Jamaica*

For over ten years the Ensigns have been interested in the work in

Jamaica^ and twice during those years they have been on the verge of

leaving for the island* Yet the Lord said, "Wait"* Even at the time
the Ensigns were seeking to know God's will in the matter. Brother and
Sister Fream were in the States from Jamaica seeking a mature and

qualified couple to go to Jamaica with them* All concerned with the

matter believe that the Lord has worked out the decision as faith has

been exhibited by prayer and by submission to His will*

Mr* Ensign has been well prepared for the work he will do in
Jamaica as he has been educated to be a teacher of Christian young

people* In 1942 he was graduated from the University of Florida with

the Bachelor of Arts degree with honors* The Cincinnati Bible Seminary
conferred on Brother Ensign the Master of Arts degree in 1945 and the

Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1948* He was elected to the honor society

Delta Aleph Tau* Graduate credit hours have been taken in the Hamma
Divinity School, Springfield, Ohio, and in the Uaiversity of Cincinnati*
For seven years Brother Ensign has taught in The Cincinnati Bible
Seminary and was a full professor when he resigned this position*

- 2-

Hundreds of Christian young people have passed through his classes and
are now at work for the Lord over the world*

Brother Ensign taught

English, Hemeneutios, Old Testament oanon. Old Testament Introduction,

Pentateuchal History, Pentatehchal Criticism, Introductory Apologetics,
Advanced Apologetics, and Homiletics*

In addition to the training and educating of Christian young people.

Brother Ensign has served churches in Florida, ^ntuoky, and Ohio* He

has been active in evangelistic work during the sunmier months after he
was through teaching in summer school*

Miss Orayce Marie Steels of Kenosha, Wisconsin, became the wife of

Mr* Ensign in 1944* She was ths valedictorian of the class of 1946 at
the Seminary* Since that time she has been a teacher of Bible school
classes, song leader, and homemaker for her husband* Three boys have

been bom to the EnsignsMark Russell, 6^ years; Nathan Bristow, 3;

and David Qrayson, 1*

The Ensigns plan to make a tour through ths churches beginning in

October* They desire speaking engagements in SentuclEy, Ohio, and Indiana
in October* During November they want to be in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois,

Indiana, and Wisconsin* In December they will travel in Michigan, Ohio,

Kentucliy, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida* Their address is 906 W* 33rd
St*, Covington, Ey*

Their immediate needs are living-link support for the family (#100
a month for each adult and $30 a month for each of the three boys) and

working-links amounting to $200 a month* Any church or individual who

would like to take a full unit of support or a part thereof is urged to

get in touch with the Ensigns immediately*

10-25

Grayson H. Ensign reports that they have secured the first major livinglink
pledge for their support, when the Cleves, Ohio church took one of their three
boys, Nathan, as livinglink. They expect to continue in the States until adequate
support is pledged to make it possible fortihem to go to Jamaica to take up the
work of Jamaica Bible Seminary. InJanuary and February, Brother Ensign will be

traveling in Virainiga, Chio and Indiana, expecting to arrange a Southeen itinerary

through Tennessee, Kis.sisbipi and Louisivna as they go south looking forward to
remaining in Florida sefie time before going to Jamaica.around March Ist . Contact
him at 906 \i. JJrd St., Covington, Kentucky.
