SIM Agenda Back-up

User Guide
SIM Agenda Back-up application lets you save all the SIM card contacts on Orange server and then
download them back on the SIM card, in case of loosing the SIM Agenda.
Once the SIM Agenda was saved on the server, the contacts will be securely stored, there will be
periodically updates of the agenda and the contacts will be available for visualization and edit using
web page www.orange.ro products and services section, on-line services.
The service offers you two types of agenda. First one is the common "agenda" which is the same
one as for Group Text Messages and Anniversary Messages and the second one is "agenda SIM
Backup" which keeps the SIM contacts.

History

1. SIM card access


SIM Agenda Back-up service implies usage of a Smart SIM card.
After service activation it's recommendable that all the contacts will be saved from SIM card to the
server. This operation can be done using the mobile phone, Orange menu, then SIM Backup
application, "Save" -> "Now" -> "Complete" .
After saving all the contacts on Orange server, afterwards, the modifications made on the SIM can
be saved on the server periodically or manually, using the following path: "Save" -> "Now" ->
"Update" (for manual update) or "Save" -> "Periodic" (for periodic updates, selecting the desired
interval: daily, weekly, monthly).
Also, in case of loosing the SIM contacts, they can be restored entering Orange menu, then SIM
Backup application, "Restore" -> "Now" -> "Complete".
In the situation when the modifications were made on the web and saving on the SIM is needed, or
if there are modifications made on the SIM but the previous configuration existing on server is
required, for SIM update the following path can be used "Restore" -> "Now" -> "Update" .
For the modifications made in the SIM card agenda to be visible it's necessary to refresh the
information following the steps "Restore" -> "Refresh SIM".

2. Web access
2.1 Login
For security purposes, the web access to SIM Agenda Back-up (www.orange.ro , products and
services page, on-line services) is conditioned by the usage of one time password mechanism.
The password is valid for one session only. In case of exiting the application the browser must be
closed or the session will expire after 30 minutes of inactivity and a new password will be required.

2.2 Agenda
Agenda is the place where the user will have all his contacts gathered. The contacts are stored in
secure and confidential conditions.
This Agenda is the use by Group Text Messages and Anniversary Messages services. Thus,
regardless of the service used for uploading phone numbers, they will be found in either of these
services.

You can manage your agenda by adding, deleting or editing contacts. To add a contact in the
"agenda" click "add contact" , enter "name" , "surname" , "phone" , optionally select the date of
birth and then click on "save" .
If you want to edit a contact from the "agenda" click on "edit" button and all 4 fields will become
editable. After modifying the fields, finalize the operation by pressing "save" .
To delete a contact from the "agenda" , check the corresponding box, press "delete" button and
then click "delete" for confirmation.

2.2.1. Import agenda


SIM Agenda Back-up application allows you to import contacts from a CSV (Comma Separated
Values) file. Creating a CSV file allows you to upload several contacts at once.

2.2.2. Create a CSV file


If you want to enter more contacts in the agenda at the same time, use the CSV import option
clicking on the "Import CSV agenda" link.
Using programs such as Microsoft Excel, the CSV files creation is very simple. CSV file should have
3 columns containing in this order surname, name and phone contact's number. Optionally, you can
add a fourth column with the birth date. After entering all the contacts in the table, please save the
document in the CSV (Comma Separated Values *csv) format. Then, click Yes or Ok.
To create a CSV file using a text file, enter the surname, name, phone number and optionally the
birth date in a text file, in one line, separated by "," or ";" character, as in the example below:
Popescu ; Ion ; 0744xxxxxx ; 23/04/1979
Warning: when entering birth date in its format, please check the character used as separator.
In all the cases, we recommend that you to enter also the birth date of the contacts in order to
improve service's operation.

2.2.3. Export agenda


If you want to export the agenda you can use the "export agenda" option by checking the data you
desire and then click "export" .

2.3. Agenda SIM Backup


After complete saving operation of the SIM contacts, these will be available on the Orange server
and will be accessible on the web page in "agenda SIM Backup" option. In this case, it's possible

to edit them (name and phone number) using the right button "edit" and also to delete the existing
contacts using "delete" button.
In case the restore operation (download the contacts from server to SIM card) is decided, only the
contacts from "agenda SIM Backup" option will be taken into consideration. The restoration
process can be done also from the web page using "update SIM" button.
If there were changes on the SIM card, saved also on the server, these will be visible in "agenda
SIM Backup" window, using the "update SIM" button.
Also, the contacts can be copied in "agenda" using "copy to agenda" button and previously
selecting the contacts that have to be copied.
"agenda SIM Backup" contacts can be copied in "agenda" . In this one, the number of contacts that
can be saved is much bigger than the number of contacts supported by the SIM. Thus, a bigger
number of contacts can be administrated and it can be decided which ones will be saved on the
SIM card by copying them in "agenda SIM Backup" . Contacts existing in "agenda" can be edited or
saved using more input fields than Name and Number.
To add a new contact in "agenda SIM Backup" you can use "add contact" button and to delete a
contact you can use "delete" button. Also, search option is available using "search" button.
To copy the contacts from "agenda" to "agenda SIM Backup, you must select the desired contacts
and then click on "copy to SIM" button.

2.3.1. Import agenda SIM Backup


Application allows you to import contacts from a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. Creating a
CSV file allows you to upload several contacts at once.

clicking on the "import CSV agenda" link in the "agenda SIM Backup.

2.3.3. Export agenda SIM Backup


If you want to export agenda SIM Backup you can use the "export agenda" option by clicking on
"export.

2.4. History
To view the actions from the SIM Agenda Back-up service you can access the "history" link. Select
the type of action, start date, end date and press "filter" button.
