a) Describe CMA CGM, the company you are working for. Give indication of the number of
containers carried last year, the different types of container vessels and their main
characteristics.
CMA CGM is the worlds third largest container shipping company. It has reported volumes
carried of 10,016,000 TEUs and revenue of 14.87 billion $ last year. The different type of
container vessel can be classified as Gearless or Crane operating,hatchless or pontoon hatch
type,by their utility :Reefers specialised or General container carrier and by Size :Feeder or
Mother vessels.

b) Describe the role of your vessel in the structure of CMA CGM fleets
Our vessel(Figure 1) belongs to Fleet 7 Singapore CCISC which consists of 7 vessels and
deployed on NEW PHOENICIAN LINE with a rotation of roughly 61 days .Vessels route is
from Adriatic Sea ports in Europe to Asia via SUEZ canal and vice versa (Figure 2)

c) 1. Procedures for loading/discharging of reefer containers.


Loaded reefers must be in good condition,undamaged.Reefers has to be connected to the ships
power supply by the electrician or duty crew using the insulated gloves from Ships Office and if
presents alarms, the Chief Mate should be informed immediately. The shore technician will be
called if necessary. Setting temperature, ventilation and log history must be in good order without
major deviation from setting temperature. It is forbidden to modify any reefers parameter (set
point, ventilation,) without line instruction.The major reefer operation ports of our ship are Port
Said & Singapore.

c) 2. Procedure for underwater survey.


All relevant equipments which will affects the underwater survey must be switch off, for example
bow thruster , ballast and bilge pumps , echo sounders ,logs etc. Dont switch on warning
plates must be posted on those equipments and underwater works in progress posted in ECR&
bridge. An appropriate lookout shall be kept on deck with walkie-talkie .Hoist flag A and
establish communication with the divers. First-aid equipment should be available. Monitor tides
and currents, like Singapore they have strong tides and Yang Shan have turbid water.
