WE HEAR ...

Stephan, while running, fell down. When he got up he said, "I think I broke my radiator."

Johnny Edwards, not yet in school, was looking at his brother Jeff's reading readiness book. There
were three pairs of mittens and three kittens. The child was supposed to tell if this was the same number
of mittens as it was kittens. Johnny said, "wouldn't fit kittens have four feet."

NEW ADMINISTRATOR

THOMAS R. EDWARDS AND HIS FAMILY returned to Homer In September. He has already assumed leadership.
With Tom as the administrator and his wife, Jan, assisting, the Gateses are directing their efforts towards the
promotional end of things.

AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR, with the completion of that necessary "breaking in" period, the Gateses
plan to devote full time to the job of promotion. Until school is out they will remain on the field, working out
itineraries, preparing slides for loan as well as for their own presentations, preparing and mailing displays and
other such materials, writing newsletters. Keyhole, brochures, etc.

WHEN SCHOOL IS OUT THEY PLAN, Lord willing, to attend the annual meeting of the Alaska Christian School
Corporation in Southern California. They will then visit churches until the middle of August. At that time they
plan to set up a promotional office and their household in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sarah will carry on 'the
preparations of promotional materials, the handling of the library of slides, filmstrips, displays, etc. while their

daughter, Terry, attends school. Bill will travel extensively, reporting to supporting churches, making new
acquaintances and representing the Alaska Christian School at conventions, missionary fairs, etc.
IN OUR NEXT NEWSLETTER (March) we hope to give you more details, an exact date and an address for the

office in the "lower 48" from which all promotional work will be carried on. In the meantime, there will be slides,
filmstrips, tapes, and displays available for loan at the school address. Be sure to write well in advance for

bookings because of the distance they must be sent. Be sure to designate if you can use filmstrip instead of
slides.

ALSO, THE 1970 ITINERARY IS BEING PREPARED RIGHT NOW. Please write if you want a personal visit

from the Gateses for your congregation. Our tentative schedule is:
June 615
June 1622
June 2330

Los Angeles, California area

Southern part of New Mexico enroute to Texas
Central part of Texas

July 120

Florida

We will then head toward Albuquerque and will try to stop at as many churches as we can and still get to
Albuquerque by the middle of August. If you are not on our route for this period of time but you do want a personal
visit, please write and tell us so that we can plan to have Bill come your way just as soon as possibleLIST OF CHILDREN

CHILDREN'S PAGE
Dear Friends,

Christmas is here again. Last Christmas the kids were

having a lot of fun. The Christmas trees were pretty. The

snow was fluffy. We also, had a Christmas play last year.
This year we will have one too.

We went Christmas caroling. We went all over the

country side singing Christmas carols. We had fun too.

Merry Christmas!
Love,

Terry M. Gates

What does the word Christmas mean to me?

Christmas is when

we celebrate Jesus' birthday.

It is the time when there is joy and happiness, and

when we get presents for each other, and send cards out
to other people.
by Bobby

I had a lesson. It was to be kind on Christmas and not

on Christmas only but on other days too.

Christmas is a time to think of Christ's birth - how He
came to earth and was born in a manger.

Also it can be a time of remembrance, for Christmas

trees, bells, and of course, Santa Claus!

It is a joyful time and a time when all children are nice,

by Lenore

There is a story that says, "Be kind to someone and

Santa will drink tea with you on Christmas. Then he will
go on your roof and say, 'Onward! deer!' " Then you can
hear galloping and the deer have gone away.
I like Christmas.

by Siephan

On Christmas we celebrate Christ's birthday. Sometimes

we have a program. Last year our program started with the
story of Adam and Eve and how they sinned. Then we went

on the stage and showed why Herod wanted to kill Jesus

Then we sang "Joy to the World" at the end.
by .Sandra

On Christmas we have plays and gifts. We have snow

on the ground, and we go skating, skiing and sometimes

sledding. Christmas morning we have our stockings and
then we open our Christmas gifts.
by Mattie

I have just discovered that we have unintentionally

left out a very important part of our children's page. We
have always intended that there should be a thank you letter
from the children who have been remembered on their
birthdays during the quarter. I see that this has not been.
Sorry about that! Frank will, therefore, write on behalf

of all the children who were recipients of gifts for the

entire year.

'MS,

Sarah Gates

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the presents and the money that was
sent to us for our birthdays this year.

We used to have a birthday party each month for every

one who had a birthday that month. Now we have a party
