New in This Release

Enterprise Manager 2015 R3 offers the following new features and enhancements. For more details, see
the Dell Enterprise Manager 2015 R3 Administrators Guide.

Dell Storage API Support for REST

Dell Storage API version 2.2 supports the REST API service. REST clients format API objects and methods
as either JSON or XML. The clients then invoke them on the Data Collector by sending an HTTP request.
The Data Collector executes the API method and returns the result as JSON or XML in the HTTP response
body.
For more information on REST API, see the Dell Storage REST API Getting Started Guide.

FluidFS v5 Support
Dell Enterprise Manager version 2015 R3 supports FluidFS v5. New features in FluidFS v5 include:

Installation Instructions
For instructions on installing and setting up Enterprise Manager, see the Dell Enterprise Manager 2015 R3
Installation Guide.

Updating to Enterprise Manager 2015 R3

Update the Data Collector, Dell Storage Client. and Server Agent.

The Data Collector being updated must be running version 6.1 or later.

The server that hosts the Data Collector must be running a 64-bit operating system. If the Data
Collector is installed on a 32bit server, migrate to a 64bit operating system.

For each managed Storage Center, the Storage Center certificate must contain the host name or
management IP address used to add the Storage Center to Enterprise Manager. For instructions on
regenerating an SSL certificate, see the Storage Center Administrators Guide.

1.

Download the Enterprise Manager software.

2.

Upgrade the primary Enterprise Manager Data Collector.

a. Unzip the Enterprise Manager Data Collector Setup file.
b. Run the Enterprise Manager Data Collector Setup file to upgrade the Data Collector.

3.

If you are using a remote Data Collector, repeat Step 2 on the server that hosts the remote Data
Collector.

4.

Upgrade all Dell Storage Clients.

a. Use the Dell Storage Client to connect to the upgraded Data Collector.
b. When you are prompted, download and install the new Dell Storage Client.

5.

Upgrade the Enterprise Manager Server Agents on all Windows servers.

a. Download the updated Server Agent Installer from the Data Collector website. Do not use the
CHECK FOR UPGRADE option in the Server Agent Manager to perform the upgrade.
b. Run the Server Agent Installer to install the updated version.

Migrating a Data Collector from 32-bit to 64-bit

A Data Collector that is installed on a 32bit server cannot be directly upgraded to version 2015 R3
because Enterprise Manager 6.3.1 removed Data Collector support for 32bit operating systems. To
upgrade to version 2015 R3, install the Data Collector on a 64bit server, and then migrate the data from
the old Data Collector to the new Data Collector.
1.

On a 64bit server, install the same Data Collector version that is running on the existing 32bit server.

2.

Migrate the Data Collector configuration from the 32bit server to the 64bit server. For specific
instructions, see the Data Collector Management chapter in the Enterprise Manager Administrators
Guide.

3.

Upgrade the Data Collector on the 64bit server to version 2015 R3.
