6. Process variable

Confidential

1. Pressure:
For straight run naphtha desulfurization, 20 to 35 kg/cm2g
2. Temperature:
Minimum reactor inlet temperature is 315C
3. Feed:
If the sulfur level decreases below 0.15 wt-ppm sulfur,
then sulfur should be injected into the feed.
4. Hydrogen to Hydrocarbon ratio:
For straight run naphtha from 40-75 nm3/m3
5. Space velocity:
SRN is processed at 4-12 LHSV
6. Catalyst protection, aging and poisons:
Coke ( 5% wt is OK)
Metals ( 2-3% of the catalyst)
Accumulation of deposit on top of the catalyst bed

Process Variables

Confidential

1. Temperature
- Major control variable
- Increased throughout cycle to compensate for decreasing
catalyst activity
- Catalyst activity correlates to Average Bed Temperature

Process Variables
- Temperature set by product specifications
- Increasing reactor temperatures will
+ Lower product sulfur
+ Lower product aromatics
+ Higher temperature rise in reactor
+ Higher deactivation rate
+ Lower product Nitrogen and Oxygen
