Nowadays, the fresh graduates are unemployed and facing the problem of finding a

job that they prefer. According to the Malaysias statistics, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar
announced that there is 161,100 graduated are unemployed among the current 400.000
unemployed individuals in Malaysia. Most of the graduates aged between 20 and 24 years
old. There are factors which cause this incident.
Why the employers not prefer to employ the fresh graduates? This is because the
teenagers were lack of qualifications and they are giving up their further study which mean
most of teenagers took the lower levels certificate such as diploma certificate or even Sijil
Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results and trying to step in the society find a job. The employers
are seeking for the degree holder more than lower levels certificate. The teenagers
expectation is too high. They are looking high paid jobs but they do not try hard for it which
means they thought that they will be offer with a high paid job with a lower qualification yet
they never thought of there are many graduates with high level qualification are seeking for
the jobs too.
Besides that, teenagers who never been employ will more difficult to find a jobs
because employers will always seeking for the one with experience and skills. Plus the
economic downturn, most of the company are controlling the financial resources so they
might not provide any training for the employees. That is why the one with experience and
skills are having competitive advantages. They also will become demotivated due to the
limited job occasions.
Third is the geographical immobility problem. For Example, in Malaysia Kuala
Lumpur has more job opportunities than other states and their paid is higher. On the other
hand, there are a lot of parents that are not willing to let their children to work in another
place far away from their hometown and most of the parents thought that the living cost in
Kuala Lumpur is very high, even the salary is high only able to cover the expenses and room
rental. So normally the parents will ask their family member to work in their own hometown,
at least the living cost is not that high.
To sum up, we need to come out with a plan to resolve the youth unemployed
problems. In my opinion, I think that parents should motivate their children since they are
young to study harder. Parents motivation will give a big impact to a child. The parents also
should motivate their child to look for a part time jobs during their school holiday. With that,
children can experience the social hardships and difficulty of finding a job nowadays.
