I believe that the whole world that we live in is meticulously interdependent though
disciplines are miles apart. It took me a lot of time to think of points that can suffix
the relationship of Physical Therapy to Geology and vice versa.
To begin, Physical Therapy is, according to the internet a physical medicine and
rehabilitation specialty that remediates impairments and promotes mobility,
function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical
intervention (therapy using mechanical force and movements). It is carried out by
physical therapists (known as physiotherapists in most countries). Additionally, it
can be seen that the notion of Physical Therapists as plain masseurs is just a
stereotype and should not be entertained. Meanwhile, Geology is defined as the
science that deals with the earth's physical structure and substance, its history, and
the processes that act on it.
I believe that Physical Therapy, like all other fields, is dependent to Geology. One of
the hallmarks of Physical Treatment uses electronics. As the study of mineral
extraction that is led by Geologists progresses, there will be an effective extraction
of several Rare Earth Metals. These Rare Earth Metals -several chemical elements
found in the Earths crust which is vital to modern technologies due to their unique
properties, can provide more powerful and more specific electrodes that can
stimulate the nerves of the patients and thus, decreases debilitating symptoms.
Moreover, since Geology also specializes on the analyses of the surface's
topography and geologic history, Geology can make the people less disaster prone
and thus, obviously, lessen the patients that will need Physical Therapy. In
conjunction, I believe that as the whole field progresses, some day, it can predict
disasters more precisely and thus leading to the said beneficial effect.
Also, on a macroeconomic perspective, it cannot be denied that Geology controls
entire economies. Most of the time, it also affects the countries internal affairs,
culture, policies and is sometimes a cause of wars. If we responsibly use the
resources that we extract on the Earth well, I believe that this can uplift the lifestyle
index of the masses and thus, increase awareness and decrease the prevalence of
diseases that needs Physical Therapy for rehabilitation. Knowledge on the field of
Physical Therapy, and all other fields dependent on Geology will also increase and
proliferate. Also, as I said earlier, Geology, are sometimes cause of wars when there
is a high demand on minerals but low in supply where countries are forced to pick
on weaker ones for resources. A more effective mineral extraction will reduce the
probability of wars and create a sustainable Pax era.
Furthermore, since Geology deals with fossils and ancient microbes, I think we can
tap on this field where we search for extant microbes that once lived the Earth and

study their DNA or RNA. Through this, along with the advances in molecular
genetics, I think we can use these RNA or DNA to create researches on generating
new vaccines against evolving strains. As a result, we can fight several infectious
diseases that disable people.
Moreover, since Geology also deals with evolution and provides evidences that can
suffix it, I believe that through the extracted bones of our ancestors, we can
determine their musculatures and several organs. Through these, we will know the
organ systems that was modified by evolution and we will know the reason behind
it. Exercises in Physical Therapy can also be modified if we are pushing Natural
Selection on the wrong path.
Additionally, we can use the technologies that was once only exclusively used by
geologists and developed only for the field of Geology like the emission of probe
waves, several graphs and others to the application of Physical Therapy. Through
this, we can have less invasive diagnostic procedures that will reduce the likelihood
of infection and pain in the client.
For the case of the possible contributions of Physical Therapy to Geology, we can
strengthen the geologists' physical well-being through several exercises that can
increase their endurance and flexibility so that they can get through tedious and
demanding hours at excavation sites and etc. For several geologists who was
debilitated by some type of diseases, who have lost the needed fine motor
movements during excavations, we can create exercises that can help them regain
back majority of their lost skills.
Also, Physical Therapy is not bound to improving Physical well-being alone, but we
are also great motivators. I believe that empowering the persons seat of cognition
is primary and the improvement of Physical well-being is only secondary to it.
Through this, Geologists will have more energy to discover the secrets of the Earth.
Physical Therapy also has a branch that deals with Ergonomics
To conclude, as what I said about my fascination of the interconnectedness of
almost everything in this world, Physical Therapy and Geology is not an exception. I
am looking forward that on the future, mutual involvement with these two will
increase in proportion with its yields to the society.
