E-Vac Vacuum Generators

How the E-Vac Vacuum Generator Works

Compressed air flows through the inlet (1), then through a single directed nozzle
(2). As the airstream exhausts, it expands and increases in velocity prior to
passing through the venturi (3). A vacuum inlet tangential to the primary airflow
(4) is located at the suction point between the orifice and the venturi. The
airflow that is drawn through the vacuum inlet mixes with the primary
airstream, then exhausts on the opposite end (5).

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Model Number

E-Vac model numbering system explained:
810013M
8 = Vacuum Generator
1 = Non Porous
0 = Porous
0 = E-Vac only
1 = kit w/ cups
2 = add filter and regulator
0 1 3 = SCFM
M = Straight through muffler,
H = Standard Muffler,
_ = No Muffler included

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Model Types

Model Types
Porous

Non-porous

Lower Vacuums with higher flows

Higher Vacuums with lower flows

Use on materials like wood,

cardboard, leather, fabric, etc.

Use on materials with smooth surfaces

like sheet metal, glass, polished
marble, granite, etc.

Use on materials like cast iron,

textured plastic, etc.
Use for evacuating enclosed
spaces
Vacuum levels up to 21 Hg

Use for evacuating to a high vacuum,

up to 27 Hg

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Muffler Types

Muffler Types
Without muffler - Can be very loud, similar to a vortex tube
With muffler Standard Muffler similar to Vortex Tube hot muffler but made of plastic

Straight Through Muffler similar to Vortex Tube cold muffler

Easy sell see dB chart, pg. 86

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Competition

PIAB on a different level than we are now
Vaccon Most direct competitor pricing 11-13% less, performance
same as or better

We are developing a cross reference as well as other resources to aid in

selection process

EXAIR has only one series now. Other guys have more mature product
lines. We are the new kid on the block.

So far, the reception has been quite good. Customers seem to be looking
for an alternate source in this type of product.

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Sizing

How to size an E-Vac

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Sizing

Step 1- Type of Cup Needed
Round for most

Bellows for round and odd shapes

Oval for special applications may be determined by geometry

Cups to E-Vac ratio Max of 4:1 Non-Porous 2:1 for Porous

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Sizing

Step 2 Determine Cup Size by table
Safety Factor and Weight See table, pg. 88
Step 3 Begin Search for E-Vac that will produce proper vacuum
level as required by selected vacuum cup
Porous Varied Vacuum levels 21 Hg max
Best scenario is they have an existing system and just need to swap out a
component
If not, need to know the vacuum loss based on number of cups and
material Have a chart for cardboard. Hopefully, more data for other
materials will come in future

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Sizing

A Porous Example
6 x 6 x 6 cardboard box that weighs 20 lbs.
1.

Not very big, so 1 cup

2.

Safety Factor = 2, so weight = 2 x 20 lbs = 40 lbs

3.

Size is 6 x 6, so a reasonable cup size is 4.25 (900759)

4.

See page 88 4 column, 40 lbs min, = 15Hg

So which vacuum generator gives 15Hg w/ a 4 vacuum cup on

cardboard?

E-Vac Vacuum Generator Sizing

The competition says

When handling porous materials such as corrugated or heavy fabric, it may

be hard to choose the exact pump required because the leakage rate is not
normally known.
It is best to run a trial to test the ability of the pump to overcome the
leakage. For existing systems, consult . for the equivalent pump size.
For new applications, take advantage of 30 day test & evaluation
program to ensure proper pump selection
