An effective teacher will spend most of the first two weeks of the school year teaching students to follow classroom procedures. To be successful in learning, you need to follow some simple procedures. A bulletin board with different sections belonging to each procedure will list the steps to the procedure.

To EXPLAIN my procedure, I will provide my students with a list on a bulletin board of the steps that coincide with the procedure. I will read through the steps with them and even walk around the room to show them how to complete each step. I will REHEARSE the procedure by asking the students to tell me each step. I will REINFORCE each procedure by explaining to the students the importance of each procedure and why we do them (ex: when passing papers, keep organization; when being tardy or absent, make sure to catch up on work; when there is an emergency, making sure no one gets confused or harmed). An effective teacher will spend most of the first two weeks of the school year teaching students to follow classroom procedures (Wong and Wong, 83). After these first two weeks, I will still take time throughout the school year reviewing different procedures. I also enjoyed Mr. Kazim Ciceks reasoning for teaching procedures: A procedure is the way that we do things. To do things right, we have to follow some simple procedures, for example: To open your locker, you have to select your combination as directed by the lock manufacturer. To place a call on your phone, you need to enter the number in the right order. So, to be successful in learning, you need to follow some simple procedures (Wong, Classroom Management Online Course). To introduce the different procedures in my classroom, I plan on using a similar theory as Mr. Ciceks to teach my class. VISUALS FOR PROCEDURES I will keep a bulletin board with different sections belonging to each procedure. Each section will list the steps to the procedure and, if needed, a map.
