Lesson objective:
Introduce students to the features and uses of coins and
notes
Introductory phase:
Students to watch short animated video on coins and
notes. Discuss the features of coins (what are they made
out of, what colour are they, which one is worth the
most/least, what is the pictures on them)

Conclusion/reflections:
Students to assist teacher in creating a brainstorm/mindmap poster
about what they know about money. Things to include may be:
Colours, Shapes, Sizes, what do we use it for, what pictures are on it,
what is it made of etc?
Students can swap group activities if finished early

Lesson Body:
GROUP 1 AND 2 (Year 1): Students to complete Money,
Money, Money Worksheet using examples of coins and
notes on the table. Students are to colour in the money
and link the pictures to its worth
GROUP 3 (Year 2): Students complete the Which coin
am I? sheet? They are to use the clues and then place
the matched coin on the correct square.
