Street lighting cable faults are the "natural enemy" of reliability. Innovative cable
fault location instruments make it possible to quickly localize street lighting cable
faults without causing damage to fault-free parts of the cable. Cable fault
Detection is designed to reduce on site cable strike incidents by reducing human
error. Electricity theft can be in the form of fraud (meter tampering), stealing
(illegal connections). Estimates of the extent of electricity theft in a sample of 102
countries for 1980 and 2000 are undertaken.The evidence shows that theft is
increasing in most regions of the world. A novel anti-theft and line break
detection method of street lamp power cables is presented in the paper. Whether
the cable is stolen or not can be judged, and the fault location can be calculated.
The novel method is no necessary to add equipment to the end of street lamp
power cables, and it's not influenced by power transformer types and the cable
length. Simulation experimentations are carried out. Simulation results show that
the method is simple and correct. This will to control the theft or risk factors by
remote monitoring and control.
