Greetings to the respected speaker, cautious timekeeper, honorable

judges, absurd members of the government team and members of the floor.Welcome

from this side of the house. The motion for today's debate is Parents should be held
responsible for their school-going childrens discipline problems. Before I put forward
my case today I would like to define todays motion[discipline:,school going
children,responsibility,parents].
[rebuttal]
[presenting timeline]
As I said before,my first point is people are mold through the societys
influences not just through their parents. When children start school, their parents
begin to lose the influence they once had. This shows that a child is molded into
someone he or she is, not through what his parents taught him but by the
society.Parents can only pass down a set of beliefs and values but that doesn't mean
parents should be held responsible for their wrongdoings.Parenting does not produce
the child. Parenting is an influence and it's certainly prudent for parents to do to
maximise positive influence but in the final analysis ,the child produces himself. At
any given point in a child's life, he takes the society's influence and he decides what
to do with it. The child is the decider.

This is because children can make a choice to not follow them.Children are
found more rebellious when it comes to following their parents rules. According to a
study by a website,Love To Know.

Moving on , at school, peers have more influence towards children when they
start going to school..According to a statistic carried out by family First Aid
website,90% of student follow their peers in making a decision. This shows that once
a child reaches a certain age, peers are more influential than parents that could lead
to many behavioural problems.
Peer pressure are social norms and powerful influences on behaviour. That was
a quote by Andrew Lansley.Basically saying that children are more likely to follow
their peers. Peer pressure has always had negative influences on children and that
could lead serious discipline issues. When children break the school rules,it is most
likely happening under the pressure given by their peers, how can parents be
blamed for it? They can't be sitting together with their children at school supervising
everything every time!
From a survey done by the CBS News,it shows that 87% of children break the
law after seeing their friends doing it too. Thus, we can conclude that even if parents
teach what is right and wrong, the society always has its unique way in influencing
our children towards a bad behaviour. Even Though since young, children were under
direct supervision of their parents but our surroundings changes us to either a good
person or a bad person.

Let me conclude with a quote by Dan Buettner ,The people you surround
yourself with, influence your behaviors. So as we have seen, people are molded
through the societys influences not just through their parents and therefore Parents
should (not) be held responsible for their school-going childrens discipline problems.
