Abstract

This design shows a chilled water air conditioning system for a sports complex with an area of
40,000 sq. m. The problem that comes in the study are the following:
1)

The cooling energy required for an air-conditioning system of a sports complex with

2)
3)

an area of 40,000 sq. meters

If the capacity in tons refrigeration satisfies the thumb rule condition of 10-20 m 2/TR.
If the RSHF (Room Sensible Heat Factor) satisfy the rule of thumb condition of 0.65

4)

0.75 to each space and the whole area to be air conditioned.

The total cost required for the proposed project to be done.

This four is the main objective of the designers. The study shows a result of:
1) 1864.80 TR 2000 TR needed to cool a sports complex with an area of 40,000 sq. meters.
2) Capacity in tons refrigeration satisfies the thumb rule condition of 10-20 m 2/TR
3) And simultaneously RSHF (Room Sensible Heat Factor) satisfies also the rule of thumb condition
of 0.65 0.75 to each space and the whole area to be air conditioned.
4) A total of PHP PHP83,594,360.00 required for the proposed project to be done.
Minor problems also have been determined by the designer and this are the following; the
apparatus dew point temperature, the CFM capacity of the overall area to be air conditioned, the number
of AHUs to be used, mass flow rate of water entering the cooling tower, the temperature of water leaving
and entering the cooling tower, the quantity of make-up water required and the work done by the
compressor. The study shows a result of 5 oC for the apparatus dew point temperature, 582,392.963 CFM
for the capacity of the overall area to be air conditioned, 11 AHUs to be used, 281.97 kg/s mass flow rate
of water entering the cooling tower, 35.31 oC temperature entering the cooling tower and 29.75 oC
temperature leaving the cooling tower, 27.05 kg/sec quantity of make-up water required and lastly,
1638.57 KW work done by the compressor.
