FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED

DID YOU KNOW

Beautiful Black ManBy: Victoria Z 2009

Like a lion that stands over his pride
And has dominion over his land
You are fearfully and wonderfully
made
Strong Beautiful Black Man
You are a centrifugal and driving
force
That draws me deeply into you
You are everything that my heart
desires
Your love I could never refuse

I am only trying to reassure you

That I am the exception to the rule
That I will love you no matter what
Win, draw, or lose
Even when you are feeling
That you have lost your place in this
land
Sometimes being portrayed and even
told
That you are less than a man

Even in those times when it seems

That the world knows not your name
I will always be there to remind you
Of your strength, your pride and your
fame

Dont you give in to anger

Please dont hold your head down
Exhibit your strength and your pride
Remember, you wear a crown

Though most personify fear of you

Because of what they do not know
For it is not what their eyes can see
But rather what their hearts truthfully
know

Because You are still a King amongst

Kings
In my world, you are high in demand
Remember, I do love you
no matter what

That your abilities are limitless

Your hands can accomplish any task
Even when it seems impossible
You always manage to show contrast

My Strong Beautiful Black Man!

Since 2006 there have been 31 deaths as a

result of gun violence in Bermuda. 31 black
men have died at the hands of another black
man. This is a sad and unacceptable statisic.
This issue of EXODUS is dedicated to the
young black men who are left behind. We have
this special message for you
You may not hear it often enough, perhaps you
havent heard it all. But our community needs
you. We need your strength. We need your
integrity. We need your support and your
guidance
We need you ALIVE for without you, we
PERISH!
You are valuable. You are loved. You are
important. You are intelligent. You are
amazing. You are a King!

#FlashbackFriday
Paying homage to The Workers Voice
The following excerpt is taken from the November 17th 1995 edition of The Workers Voice in an article entitled Love and Respect is the Answer written
by Chris Furbert.
The Million Man March that took place in Washington, D.C. on October 16th, 1995 will go down in history as one of the most successful events ever for
the black mans struggle for equality, social and economic justice.
The event was designed to have blacks develop their own self-reliance. By doing so they would begin to develop their own economic base, strengthen
black communities and to have their own identity.
Brothers and sisters, the time has come for us to build our empires after spending hundreds of years building empires for our oppressors so that they
can oppress us even more. We must stop and do the right thing build our own!
The coming together of more than one million brothers and some sisters for this march should have sent us, as black people, a clear message that its
time for black men to stand up, hold their heads high, take your rightful place in society and accept your responsibility to develop an economic plan for
our people.
We need, as black people, to restore black pride, black home life and rely on ourselves to unite black communities. We must develop our own social
and economic programmes.
Mrs. Ellen Douglas was the first speaker in St. Pauls Centennial Hall on October 16 and she told the audience that she was a liberated woman and owed
her existence and strength to black men. She went on to say that self-love is love of ones self. She said, Unless you love yourself, you cannot love
me a black woman. I am anxious to adore you. I am anxious to be proud of you and to respect you. I have been waiting and today is the day.
Another speaker at the Centennial Hall meeting was Dr. Ewart Brown, who followed Mrs. Douglas, and he asked: Have you ever noticed, my friends,
that whenever black people decide to come together in any sort of collective action, it creates fear in the minds of people?
They do dont believe that we are worth nothing. We have to stop believe we are worth nothing.
Why is it that, as black people, we find it so easy to fight against one another, so easy to hold a grudge, and so disrespectful towards each other. We
do so many other things to each other because of petty jealousies and resentment, and this must cease if we are to make an impact.
The bible refers to my brothers keeper, so lets start showing each other more love, respect, and giving to each other the things that we as black
people, so rightly deserve.
We must collectively work on achieving the common goal of equality, unity, social and economic justice for our people. Let us be the envy of the world
and prove to others, but more importantly to ourselves, that we can achieve self-reliance.
The Workers Voice was started in 1971 by the Bermuda Industrial Union as a bi-monthly newsletter.

behavior, EXODUS has launched

them that they are royalty.

Why Political Systems

Dont Work Part 2

The un-unified and compromised approached to the rule of the aristocratic

way of life is not new, but history has recorded the occasions that when the
commoners have had enough, revolt against the aristocratic establishment in
many countries has led to blood in the streets.

One such revolt in ancient Greece, some five hundred years before Jesus in 508
BC, lead to a new system of rule called Democracy. A system of equality where
(Continued from Issue 006) Opinion by: Ras Mykkal
the common people would have the same rights in decision making as the
aristocrats, where the casting of a piece of black or white stone into a vase gave
everyone an equal voice and the majority would rule. This is true democracy.
Under this system, the dreams and ambitions of the common man would be realized. He could excel. This lead
directly to the establishment of the House of Commons and many other great achievements in music, poetry,
theater, the arts, trade and athletes for everyone. The common people would find their freedom and social harmony
in this inclusive system of Classlessness, but aristocrats are a greedy and self-serving small group of people with
huge egos and armed with the gift of gab, they would slowly and systematically move the goal post until we are
right where they want us to be again. Social harmony with the working class is not of their concern, as a matter of
fact, crime makes good business sense in their world. The attainment of riches, cocktail parties and the finest things
in life are what they live for and they will pursue the implementation of full control at any cost. Too much is not
enough for their materialistic lifestyle.
With the magical use of works (the gift of gab), they slowly and systematically re-assert their power and dominance
over the common people to the point where the name of the system is still democracy but the system is not
collectively inclusive (true democracy) at all. Once the common man has cast his vote to determine which group of aristocrats will govern, they do as
they please to tax and torment the common people to the point of civil unrest. So convincing is the control over the masses that we do not even realize
that we fight ourselves to protect the interest of our autocratic leaders against ourselves. We are their employees (they are the merchants), we go to
their churches (they are the Clergy) and we vote for them (they are the rulers). Their school curriculum keeps us educated to follow their employment
line. We are their police officers and military might. Think about it, do the policemen and soldiers protect us or do they protect the system from us?
The common people will always win bloody revolutions especially if the police and military side with them. Aristocrats do not fight, if you think about it
we are their police and military; common people that work to protect the aristocratic system. The only problem with revolutions is that common people
are angry and are seldom lead by leaders with a vision, they never have a plan going forward, and no one remembers or presents the original idea of
True Democracy, so the thousand-year-old cycle of oppression and bloodshed repeats.
This is also evident amongst countries that have won their independences from hundreds of years in colonization. Any leader that attempts to break
away from the aristocratic system is crushed (like Jamaica) or isolated (like Cuba).
Politicians and their politics do not work for the common people, never has and never will. We work for them until the next revolution. All wars are
fought over and for these greedy and selfish ambitions; disease, poverty, crime and pollution are all the bi-product of the same ideology; and they find
profit in them too.
It is amazing to me that we are all here on this earth for a short while and whatever we achieve or accumulate cannot be taken with us to the grave or
beyond. Man created the concept of wealth and made it more valuable than the life that it takes to enjoy it. If we do not freely and consciously reintroduce the original system of democracy, a system that has proved to benefit selfish philosophies, these are all iniquities that are taught and serve
no useful purpose in a system of co-existence. There is no good reason why everyone cannot have a good life and be who they want to be, bun until
such time, political systems that are not inclusive will not and do not work.

Dear son
(a.k.a. little black boy)
By: Juanae Crockwell
Dear son,
My little black boy, listen to these words for they are surely true. You, my
son, are perfect, because God is surely within you.
There isnt anything that you cannot do, nope not one single thing. You
are brilliant, powerful, and ever so amazing.
Because you, my son, are a King. Your Father is a King and your
Grandfather too. Both strong black men, as are you.
You are the personification of divinity Auset, Ausar and Heru. And
although you wont be told this often, their greatness exists inside of
you.
I know when you look around it may seem hard for you to believe, but
trust me, dear son, looks can deceive.
We may not have much, but together we have it all. We can conquer
everything, overcome every fall.
I know the media, the church and the government will be at war for your
precious soul, but please trust me when I tell you that your integrity is
worth more than gold.
Some will try to undermine your identity in a selfish effort to thwart your
destiny.
Nigger, gangster and good for nothingthat is what they may call you.
But please, my son, do not be nave. Those words are lies that you must
never believe.
Ill tell you again, so it can sink in, YOU ARE A KING, innately, within.
Oh, my little black boy, Mommys job is to plant this seed, and let you
know that you already possess all that you will ever need.
And when the road gets rough, as it undoubtedly will, take a breath and
remember you are tough and your spirit cannot be killed.
You are a royalty, born from the womb of a Queen. You are the greatest
thing this earth has ever seen.
Because you, my son, are a melanin King
Rise up are rule your dynasty, in love, peace and harmony.
Always,
Queen Mommy
