SLD- Spanish Language Development- Compare and Contrast the mall and bus stop Assessment: - Monitoring of participation - Shared answers - Completed class bubble map, sentence, Materials: - The mall card and the bus stop card - Class dojo - Chart paper/markers - music Introduction: Read the objective o Voy a comparar y contrastar dos lugares de la ciudad. o Have students repeat the objective and share with a partner o Choose 3 students with class dojo to share the objective to the whole group Body Tell students that today they will be comparing and contrasting the mall and the bus stop Begin with the mall Have students think about how the mall is: Cmo es el centro comercial? o Remind students of the adjectives charts. Let them know they may use those new adjectives when describing the mall. o Provide sentence frame and write it underneath the map: El centro comercial es___________. o Give students time to think about their responses. Piensa primero. o Have students pair share their answers o Use class dojo and volunteers to choose students to share their ideas to the whole group. o As students share, fill out the class double bubble map on the chart paper. o Make sure students are using complete sentences when sharing. Once the students have described the mall move on to the bus stop Have student think about how the bus stop is: Cmo es la parada de auto bus? o Provide sentence frame and write it underneath the map: La parada de auto bus es_________. o Give students time to think about their responses. Piensa primero.

o Use class dojo and volunteers to share. o As students share fill out the portion on the map about the bus stop. o Make sure students use complete sentences when sharing. Have students think about how these two places are similar. Cmo son iguales? o Provide sentence frame and write it underneath: Ambos son ______________. o Have students think first. (Piensa primero) o Students pair share with a partner. o Choose students to share with the whole group. Now have students use the map and think of 2 sentences. o Provide sentence frame: El centro comercial es ___________. La parada de auto bus es________. Ambos son _______. o Students think first and then share with a partner. o If time, explain to students that they will be standing up and walking around when the music plays, once the music stops students will share with a partner. o Do this for 3 rounds. Closure Call students back to the carpet. Call on volunteers and choose randomly students to share their sentences with the whole group. Dismiss students by color to their classrooms.
