Instructor Information

Susan Carpenter is the course instructor for <<placeholder>> Online Instruction. She
holds a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Grades 1-8, with the focus areas of
Special Education Grades PreK-12, and Health Grades 1-8. She also holds a master's
degree in education leadership.
Ms. Carpenter has been in education for over twenty years, serving in the Galveston
County Area. She has worked in both the elementary and secondary settings for many
years, and always had a way of helping others feel comfortable using technology to
access and learn the necessary curriculum. Ms. Carpenter is also a form invited TCEA
guest presenter, speaking to the topic of technology tools in education.
Currently, Ms. Carpenter works hard to keep up with her active family. They bring her
great joy. Facilitating positive and supportive online learning experiences for people
such as yourselves, is exactly what Ms. Carpenter dreamed of doing for several years.
Not only is this a service being provided for your benefit; but, it is a true work of heart
for her.

Netiquette
Netiquette is Online Etiquette (Shea, 2001)
Keep in mind the following, when working through our online class:
There is a person on the other end of the computer. Communicate with them as
you would if they were with you in a classroom.
Laws apply online just as they do offline. Always keep this in mind.
Be respectful and receptive to the opinions of others.
Put your best foot forward, and be willing to share what you know.
Just because someone pushes a hot button, does not mean you need to fan
those flames. Keep the fires at bay. Disagreement is perfectly fine. However, we
3

must agree to be respectful and civil in the way that we handle our differing
opinions.
Everyone brings something to the table. Be mindful, appreciative and respectful
of this.
