The training I had in the department of Agriculture is learning many experience each
day. I was exposed in the actual work in MAO, became familiar with the documents prepared by
the employees there. Aside from those things, I also learned to be more sociable and to adjust
myself in the environment where I am working at and who I am working with.
In more than two (2) months stay there, I learned many things not only those things that
are related to my course but also the things that I learned about the agriculture. As I was working
as a trainee of department of Agriculture, I learned to become a hardworking person. The time to
finish the task assigned to me is important, but it is also important that I should do it correctly. I
learn to appreciate even the simplest things. Also to understand that everything that was taught in
the school can be a tool that can be used in my future career, As I was conducting my training
there, I also learned to follow the instructions and to accept or admit my failure and should learn
from it as what my employees said to me.
After training, I realized that on the job training is not just a requirement to complete
but it is an opportunity to show what skills, knowledge, and talents that I have and also the
opportunity to experience the feeling of being a professional someday.

COMPANY/INSTITUTION/ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

The Philippines is an Agricultural country, Majority of the people depends on farming as

their means of livelihood. Plants and animals are of economic importance to sustain and enhance
human life.
In 1987 under executive order no. 116 mandated the Department of Agriculture to
promote agricultural development by providing the policy framework, public investment, and
support services, which are needed for domestic and export-oriented business enterprises.

Guided by the principle that agriculture is a business, The DA implemented policy and
institutional reforms that freed agriculture markets, enabling the farmer to enjoy higher farm gate
prices.
The Agricultural development in different countries depends on its different climate,
culture and technologies. In civilized world, industrial agriculture based on large-scale
monoculture farming has become the dominant agriculture methodology. Modern Agronomy
such as plant breeding, Agrochemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers and technological
developments have increased yields from cultivation, but at the same time have caused
widespread ecological damaged and negative human health effects.
To counter the said negative effects, the government mandated a Republic act 10068 in
2010 known as organic agriculture act of the Philippines where its target is to make at least 5%
organic by year 2016.

From the very beginning of my On the Job training I was very excited and somewhat
nervous. Excited because that is my first day of duty and nervous because of the new
environment and I didnt have any idea of what kind of people they are.
Regarding the department that I assigned I dont have any issues and concern with
them. They are all good and kind that made me adjusts myself with their personalities and
attitudes. By the time that I was there, Ive feel that I am one of the employee of the department
of agriculture working like them. Some of them told me that I must do an office work but I insists
of cleaning the office, wiping the windows and tables because according to our instructor we
dont expect that our work is related to our course and now I dont have any issues and concern
with them.

I was happy because I finally finish my training but somehow sad because I will be
leaving the office where I had lots of memories and I will be missing the people that became
close to me for a period of time. Despite the sorrow of leaving them, I am still happy that once in
my life, I have meet people like them who taught me things even if not related to my chosen
course, and most importantly they helped me to be the best that I can be. It is a very
heartwarming to know that there are people who believe in me. I am very grateful because I
made them proud of what I have accomplished during my training and they were very thankful
for everything that I have help with them.
