Objectives

Major aim of our analysis is to identify gender discrimination against women in the textile sector
of Pakistan. For this purpose, we have used Oaxaca Decomposition to identify the explained
wage differential which is due to differences in productivity between men and women and
unexplained wage differential which is due to pure discrimination against women in the textile
sector. In addition to that, in light of our analysis we have given policy recommendations to
eliminate the wage gap due to discrimination.
