CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the Introduction about Employee Management and
Payroll System and the proposed system for KBL Shuttle Service Inc. This
chapter also includes the Company Profile, Company Mission and Vision,
Conceptual Framework, Objective of the Study, Hypothesis, Significance of the
Study, Scope and Limitation and Definition of Terms.

INTRODUCTION AND ITS BACKGROUND


Every organization, whether big or small, has human resource challenges
to overcome. Human Resources is a fundamental part of the structure of every
successful organization, therefore, the information received in this area needs be
continuously followed-up and correctly evaluated to have effective decision
making. However, due to the large amount of information from many activities of
the organization is handled in this area; managing the information in this area is
becoming more difficult. Information stored in paper & files did not provide the full
view to objectively evaluate the most important assets of the knowledge of an
organization, its human resources management information.
Employee management makes it easy to check and track human
resources department at the press of a button. It makes the system easy to
monitor and manage. This system helps in supervising employees work report
and productivity. Every organization has different employee management needs;
therefore we design exclusive employee management systems that will help the

company ensure that their organization is equipped with the right level of human
resources for the companys future goals.
Payroll System is technology that aims to streamline and automate the
process of paying a company's employees. Payroll consists of the process by
which a business pays its employees for work performed during a specific period.
A payroll system allows businesses to follow a set series of processes in order to
make timely. The developers expect it to be an improvement of the existing
manual system of the company by improving its functionality.
Company Profile
September 06, 2006 Sec certification was granted thus KBL Shuttle
Service Inc. was established as a shuttle provider under the umbrella of Seizen
Trade a corporation providing quality wooden pallets and carton boxes.
March 21, 2007 KBL Shuttle Service had begun as a shuttle provider of
Epson Precision Philippines (EPPI) at Lima Technology, Lipa Batangas.
June 7, 2012 KBL began its service at TDK Philippines at Techno Park,
Bian Laguna.
November 16, 2012 BE Aerospace at First Philippines Industrial Park,
Sto. Tomas Batangas.
January 22, 2013 NEC Philippines at First Philippines Industrial Park,
Sto. Tomas Batangas.
July 1, 2014 Philink Philippines at Lima Technology, Lipa Batangas.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWOK

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY


GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The general objective of this project is to develop a computer-based


system that will be used to manage the employee and payroll of KBL Shuttle
Service Inc.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
The specific objectives of this project are; to create a system which can
handle the data of such a large number of Employees and a project that
simplifies the task of maintaining records because of its user friendly nature; to
create a system that involves tracking employee histories, skills, abilities,
salaries, and accomplishments; a system that allows employees to update
personal information and perform other tasks; a system that provides more
accurate information; to create a system that should be geared toward paying
employees what they earn within a reasonable time frame; a system that
generates accurate report on employees income and other necessary
information; a system that performs calculations efficiently; a system that will
lessen paperwork; a system that will allow employees to view their pay slip; to
create a well-designed database to store employee information; and a user
friendly front-end for the user to interact with the system.

HYPOTHESIS
The researchers hypothesize that the Payroll System will be of use to the
employees of KBL Shuttle Service Inc.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


The proposed system will help the accounting section of KBL Shuttle
Service Inc., especially the Payroll maker/bookkeeper and the Finance Officer. It
will help to lessen the time and effort of the payroll maker/bookkeeper
preparing payments of employees.

The system develop can help

produce

paperless environment through well design database. The Company will greatly
benefit from this system. The proposed system will be paperless and will reduce
documents that need to be kept in order. The back-end software is also capable
of making reports that will help the officials monitor the salary of the employees.
This study will help the proponents to enhance the ability on how to create
an understandable computerized system in an easy way. This will serve to
the proponents as a challenge to do a better system. This study gives knowledge
to the other researcher on how to create a computerized System in
understandable way. This will serve as a fresh ground for the researcher whose
study will be related in the field of Information Technology.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION

DEFINITION OF TERMS
BACK END. Denoting a subordinate processor or program, not directly accessed
by the user, which performs a specialized function on behalf of a main processor
or software system.

COMPANY. A business enterprise firm.


EMPLOYEE. A person employed at a wage or salary.
RECORD. A document that contains an account particularly in terms ofcollection
COMPUTER SYSTEM. The configuration that includes all functional components
of computer and itsassociated hardware or software.
DATABASE. An integrated collection of data which provides amoreefficient way
of storage and retrieval of data and is capable of processinglarge portions of data
immediately.
INFORMATION. Is data that has been changed into a useful form of output.
PROCESS. A series of actions, changes, of functions that bring about anend or a
result.
SOFTWARE. A computer terminology use to describe the unseen
programmingcodes and running application inside the computer system.
SYSTEM. A set of related components that produces specific results.
USER FRIENDLY. Application, equipment, facility, process, or system that is
compatible with its intended user's ability to use it easily and successfully.
