Conclusion and Suggestions

11. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS

1. Grid inter-connected transmission system model is essential tool for analysis of power
scenario of concern region and electrical entities relevant to transmission network. It
elaborates detail and simplified information about transmission loading, losses, voltage
regulation, power factor, active and reactive power etc. Hence proper action can take to
any critical issue which hampers performance of transmission system.
2. Optimization would help to enhance efficacy of any existed physical system in their
operational limit. In optimization of grid interconnected transmission system, firstly track
net technical losses and total available power present at grid. Then it tries to accomplish
require demand by considering losses so arrangement of power input such a way that it
fulfills power demand by considering losses. Hence optimization is tool to suggest option
of maximum utilization of available power at grid.
3. In context of present study, only optimization of available power at grid never perfect
solution of power scheduling for concern region. While management it need to consider
whether optimized power is affordable or not. Hence optimization with economy in
operation offers ultimate efficiency with sound profit in operation and maintenance.
4. This work has done only for Karveer taluka because almost 50% of power demand
require at here and variety of sectoral consumption takes place due to mix of rural, urban
5.

and semi-urban region. So it gives better scope to study and analysis of grid management.
Consider grid inter-connected transmission system made up of seven High Voltage
substations having rated voltage of 110 kV. It gives secondary supply to distribution
substations at stepped down voltage. It further supplies Shiroli MIDC, Gokulshirgaon
MIDC, urban region like Kolhapur Municipal region, Semi-urban region like Nave

Balinge, Puikhadi, Mudshingi etc. and rural region like Kale, Shinganapur etc.
6. From collected data get that transmission efficiency and voltage regulation of concern
area is 92% and 4.2% respectively which is regulated as per National Grid Code. Sugar
Industry owned five cogeneration plants supplies power to grid which perhaps accounts
30% participation in demand fulfillment.
7. Cogeneration power purchase cost goes nearby 3.87 INR/unit and Karad-400 kV
(MAHAGENCO) goes upto 3.975 INR/unit. So cogeneration power trade is profitable to
Transmission Company. So it is not only economical but also technical perspectives like
grid energized at rated capacity strengthens efficiency and also long distance transmission
loss get reduced at greater extent due to local generation.

Conclusion and Suggestions

8. Power flow studies would help to identify transmission line parameters such as voltage,
active and reactive parameter which further used to initiate better steps towards
performance improvisation in reactive power compensation, power system stability and
control. In proposed model used Newton-Raphson technique to formulate grid
interconnected system due to fast convergence and less number of iterations in complex
math equations and Grid model equation with the help of B-loss coefficient method.
9. Five crucial optimization techniques have studied for this research project. From them
Quadratic Programming is conventional and limited functional applicability. Genetic
Algorithm, Artificial Bee Colony, Simulated Annealing and Differential Evolution are
most advance methods in digital world. Proposed model tested for four variant condition
of demand using above techniques. It gives 100% same and accurate result from all of
them which validate proposed study of grid model goes at right path. Only there is
difference in computational speed, convergence capability and iteration analysis. Above
optimization techniques simulate problem in operational constraints hence solution get
from computation is quite appropriate and feasible in real application.
10. Grid Interconnected Transmission System Model has created on MATLAB platform due
to user-friendly behavior and easy to develop any physical system in programme and recode or editing facility for corrective measure. From simulation analysis get ultimate and
errorless solution of complex grid system also among various techniques Differential
Evolution is more suited for optimization of grid inter-connected power system model.
Here at present work, grid inter-connected transmission network of Karveer region
has taken to study. Karveer grid is energized by cogeneration and transmitted Karad EHV
line. The load curve of concern region is also demonstrated in chapter 4 which briefs month
wise recorded demand in FY 2014-15. From transmission network and loading figures of
buses used to calculate individual bus parameters like voltage, incoming power and demand
etc. with the help of power flow study. Finally optimum scheduling of available generation at
grid planned to fulfill power demand using optimization tool and dispatch load to distribution
center. In brief, as far as study point of view is concerned, all determined objectives are
achieved with the help of MATLAB based Programme model.

Conclusion and Suggestions

1. For more precise and accurate decision in grid management for Kolhapur district need
to account whole district transmission system and all sub-grids connected to
Mudshingi 220 kV grid. It also elaborate details of exact demand, power deficit, net
transmission loss and available captive grid-connected generation sources.
2. Inter-district planning authority should divide into zonal centers for better power
schedulement, management and control over large distributed transmission system.
3. Macro-regional optimization analysis require advanced technology in terms of digital
computers, supporting compatible hardware and most important PLC and SCADA
automated system for data measurement and control.
4. Special arrangement of modeling packages like Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy
based programming software packages require to calculate big transmission system
parameters and to account all grid related computation in time without heavy effort.
5. Proposed model adopts at local Transmission System Operator which makes effective
planning and scheduling of available power at grid and identify power related issues
so can take fine steps to decrement in power deficit and fulfillment of power demand
of particular region at local level.
