Introduction
Our corporate identity is the face and personality we present to the community.
Our identity is the total effect of our logos, brand names, trademarks, electronic
communications and presentations everything that represents us visually.
The elements of the identity the bird, the words Baker Tilly, curve,
typeface, images and colours are among the most valuable marketing and
communications tools we have. When used properly, these elements support a
carefully designed corporate identity system.
The guidelines in this document are not meant to inhibit, but to improve the
creative process. By following these guidelines, the materials you create will
represent the brand cohesively.
Positioning
Positioning is how the network and individual member firms are viewed by
others in our target markets. We can influence how we are positioned by
communicating to our external audiences in a clear and consistent way.
All Baker Tilly International member firms aim to be open and transparent
businesses and make the following commitments:

Curve
The curve has been used in our identity for over ten years and provides a strong
and distinctive element.
Colours
In addition to the colours in the logo, we use a number of complimentary colours
to support and enhance our materials.
Imagery
Imagery is used as an integral part of our materials and its important that it
reflects our brand values and messages consistently.
Tone of voice
Our tone of voice coneys the attitude and demeanour of our personality.
This should reflect both your firms values and the positioning of the network.
Typefaces
A range of typefaces to use both in designed materials and Microsoft produced
materials are available.
Elements at work
When using the elements in a document, its important to first identify what
the purpose and objective of the document is. Elements can then be tailored to
reinforce that message.
A minimal approach to design makes the document clean and easy to read.

Straplines
A strapline or advertising tagline should only be used in marketing campaigns
that have a definite start and end date. It should only be used on local marketing
collateral which will not be seen outside your firms country of origin.

These are considered straplines and do not represent the words of the Baker Tilly
International network. These are individual to countries/locations and therefore
should only be used in local marketing campaigns and initiatives. They should
not be used on websites.

When using a strapline, it must be used within the first paragraph of the
collateral and it must be explained and described in the welcome/introductory

Subsidiary logos
A subsidiary company or subsidiary is a company that is completely or partly
owned and completely or partly controlled by a member firm. The subsidiary can
be a company, corporation, or limited liability company.
Subsidiary logos must be requested through the extranet branding portal. The
subsidiary name appears in Baker Tilly red, and is smaller than the logo.

An independent

To enhance your firms international capabilities and the Baker Tilly International
name worldwide a members logo has been created. The An independent
member of Baker Tilly International logo (the member logo) must be used on all
materials listed below. Two logos exist: (a) text logo and (b) image logo.

In all instances your firm logo should be the predominant logo. If you are using
the member logo on the same page or view as your firm logo, you should use the
text version of the member logo.
No two full image logos can appear on the same page or view. No two birds can

Curve
The curve has been used in our corporate identity for over ten years and provides
a strong and distinctive element. The shape of the curve is taken from the line of
the birds wing.
No image or logo other than the Baker Tilly logo must appear within the curve.
On printed collateral, the curve refers to the area above the curved line. On web
banners, it refers to the area below the curved line.
We have two versions of the curve; full and shallow depth. Each is provided as
PNG files for Microsoft documents and EPS for professionally designed material
from the brand portal on the extranet. Each curve is available as solid white, and
solid white with a drop shadow.
Protection zone
There is a protection zone around the curve, no text is to appear within 10mm
of the edge of the curve for up to A4. For larger instances, the protection zone is
1/21 of the curve width, as illustrated.

Colours are used to highlight headlines, frame visuals and increase the visual

From our survey it is fair to say that a disproportionate amount of time is being
spent on basic administrative duties. The results show that half of back office
time is spent on administrative duties like transaction processing, a quarter on
specialist services such as treasury management and a quarter on strategic
activities which include budget setting and investment appraisals. With back
office budgets sometimes reaching more than 8 million per annum,
if efficiencies can be made on time consuming administrative duties, significant
resources could be dedicated to frontline tenant services.
The TSAs consultation paper on its proposed new regulatory framework and
Scottish Government policy clearly shows the importance that achieving value
for money will have in future. It will be interesting to see if the 3% increases
next year.

a fall of up to 10%, 16% no change and almost a third even reporting a slight
increase. While there may have been cautious optimism that the sectors resilience
and experience of operating in a tough climate would stand it in good stead, at
least in the short term, and things would improve once the recession eased, it
is clear now that it is a more long-term survival issue, especially as forecasts for
economic improvement are consistently negative. Although the recession may have
provided many organisations with an opportunity to examine their objectives and
prioritise the core ones, the questions they now need to consider are around
long-term sustainability.

were then largely anticipated cuts have become reality following a change in
Government. Indeed, in some cases, they have been quicker and harsher than
some feared, causing immediate problems. A significant decrease in this area was
anticipated by 41% of respondents in 2009 which is almost an exact match of
what charities have actually seen. Charities can expect this to remain an area of
concern over the next few years, with a general perception being that the worst
is yet to come. Of the almost three-quarters of respondents expecting changes in
income, 27% fear a further significant decrease in government funding and 21% a
slight one. 32% of respondents still feel that this is the largest risk to their charitys
financial position.
A number of charities are also expecting membership subscriptions and fees to rise,
but this could be because, as they are under the control of the charity, they may
be planning to raise them to counteract shortfalls across other streams rather than
reflecting an actual increase in membership numbers. This may be overly optimistic.
Almost a quarter (24%) of respondents are expecting an increase in non-charitable
trading, perhaps due to an increasingly commercial and socially enterprising
business approach in the sector. Having the necessary expertise and experience is
key to success in this area.
