longshefoundherselfonstageattheMariposaFolkFestival,aswellasontheroadtotheEastCoastandback.
Roadtestingherownmaterialledtoaverystrongcollectionofsongs,resultingintherecordingofherfirstrecordthankstofundingfromtheOntario
ArtsCouncil.Thedebutalbum,AllIReallyKnow,wasrecordedin2012withproducersJoshVanTasselandJohnDinsmore.
KirtyimmediatelyfoundsupportfromCBCradioandotheroutletsacrossthecountry,andveryquicklybeganhearingfromfansfromallcornersof
Canadaandbeyond.
Asattendancecontinuedtobuildatherownshowsandwithherdebutrecordreceivinguniversalacclaim,Kirtysreachagaingrewwiderin2014when
shejoinedasacorememberoftheTorontobasedindierockbandFastRomantics.
JoiningFastRomanticsallowedmetogrowasamusician,stylisticallysatisfyanothersideofmyself,andmostimportantlyitstaughtmewhatitmeans
tobeinaband,andworkasaunit,Kirtysays.Working,recordingandtouringwithFastRomanticsislikeonebigparty.Allthetime.Withyourbest

Despitetouringthecontinentmultipletimesayear,shecontinuedtowriteandrecordherownmaterial,collaboratingagainwithproducerJoshVan

By the late summer of 1977, AC/DC were ripping things up

across many parts of the world. Bon Scott had joined the Young
brothers to form AC/DC proper three years earlier, and the
group's first worldwide release, High Voltage, was issued in 1976
on Atlantic - the label they had recently signed an international
deal with. AC/DC's first American exposure was through
Michigan radio station AM 600 WTAC in 1977. The station
booked them to play at Flint's Capitol Theater in Michigan in
December of that year. The supporting act was MC5, who had
briefly reunited and agreed to play at the event. The performance
included on this CD comes from a couple of months before the
Michigan show and was recorded for a live FM radio broadcast
at the legendary Old Waldorf, one of Bill Graham's venues in San
Francisco. With near perfect sound and a set-list that included
tracks from all their albums to date, along with the preview of a
couple of tracks from 1978's Powerage, this show was clearly
one hell of an AC/DC gig and remains a classic illustration of
where the group were at this juncture in their career.
In'94, the group set out on their notorious Self Destruct Tour with
shows often descending into violence and chaos, as the
members routinely smashed equipment - and often themselves
too - at the climax of each performance. Perhaps the most
memorable event however was NIN's set at Woodstock '94 in
Saugerties, New York on Saturday 13th August, where the group
played alongside Joe Cocker, C, S & N, Cypress Hill and
numerous others. Often dubbed "Mudstock", NIN took to the
stage drenched and dirty, and attracted the largest crowd of the
entire weekend. Broadcast live on FM radio and Pay-Per-View
television to an audience of over 24 million, this recording
includes the entire performance given by the band on this
momentous occasion. Despite Reznor's dissatisfaction with the
results, it remains the stuff of legend. With exceptional renditions
of 'March Of The Pigs', 'Closer' and 'Happiness Is Slavery'
alongside other classics, this brutal and uncompromising show is
captured here in the highest possible quality and will form a
welcome addition to the collections of fans everywhere.

No, it is not a new Mark Ronson record. Nor is it the latest

from Leon Bridges. Nor Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings.
This is D/troit and it is the name of the latest signing from
Crunchy Frog (Junior Senior, The Raveonettes, Thee
Attacks, PowerSolo and more) and Do the Right Thing is
their first release.
The five members of D/troit have all earned their stripes in
garage-rock bands like The Magic Bullet Theory and The
Breakers (signed to Little Steven's Wicked Cool label, touring as
support for Bon Jovi etc.). But even though you can certainly
sense the garage background in D/troits music, this is all about
great melodies, great sound and SOUL! Soul and R'n'B from the
60s and 70s known from the city that gave the band its name:
Detroit. Here were legendary labels like Fortune, Tamla
Motown that have influenced soul music ever since.

The Unreal Zound takes its source in PowerSolos latest album,
The Real Sound, both in terms of naming and tracks, but being
the beat-digger that he is, Tue Track has been diving deeper into
the discography of PowerSolo, finding nuggets and gems and
tossing it all into his sonic melting pot. The Real Sound is
genuine rocknroll with a sense of fun, sex and danger to it and
was conceptualized as a compilation of novelty hits and one hit
wonder 7-singles from the 50s, 60s or even the 70s., i.e. the
type of songs that would be found on the Las Vegas Grind and
Nuggets compilations. Thus, the album was (under-)produced,
inspired by the meagre and often grating and rasping recording
techniques of former days. Add Tue Tracks encyclopedic
sources of inspiration, drawing on hip-hop, electro, dub, punk
and no wave of the 80s, 90s and 00s, and you get an album from
the gaddamn future!
For far too long, there has been an unfulfilled potential in doing a
flipped Rick Rubin with a twist, getting a hip-hop producer and a
rock n roll band in the same boat and set the sails for making an
album that challenges, defies and redefines both genres.

We continue our series focusing on the great arrangers and

conductors of the pre- and post-war eras with an anthology
devoted to the work of Gordon Jenkins, a fine pianist and
composer as well as a noted arranger, who is especially
associated with lush string arrangements which accompanied
some of the great singers of the time.
This great value 87-track 4-CD set comprises examples of his
work from a period of over a quarter of a century spanning WWII,
featuring recordings made with a host of top flight male and
female vocalists during his long tenures as house arranger for
Capitol and Decca, as well as his performances of the several
orchestral suites which he composed and recorded under his
own name over the years.
Included are recordings by artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis
Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Dick Haymes, The Andrews Sisters,
Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, The
Weavers, Marlene Dietrich, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Ethel
Merman, Danny Kaye, Burl Ives and many more, so it provides a
fascinating trawl across the spectrum of popular music as well as
an insight into the techniques and talents of one of the industry's

Between 1954 and 1960, the British Tempo label probably did more
than any other recording imprint to document the rapid progress of
local modern jazz. Poorly funded, and run almost exclusively on the
irrepressible energy of Tony Hall, otherwise part of Decca's
exploitation team, its catalogue of EP's, 10" and 12" LPs captured
the early steps of such soon-to-be legends as saxophonists Tubby
Hayes, Ronnie Scott and Don Rendell, multi-instrumentalist Victor
Feldman, trumpeters Dizzy Reece and Jimmy Deuchar and drummer
Phil Seamen, all of whom effectively entered a rotating stock
company, operating in much the same way as Art Blakey, Horace
Silver and Hank Mobley were then doing on the fabled Blue Note
label. Cool Music For A Hot Night promised a programme of ballad
performances: Speak Low delivered a sequence of largely grooving
medium-tempo material and Swingin' The Blues found Tempo's stars
tackling funky, blues-related themes by the likes of Sonny Rollins,
Sonny Stitt and Horace Silver. Each album also had the considerable
bonus of striking cover art featuring the then young-starlet-cummodel Jackie Collins, later to become a celebrated author. Since
their initial release, all three albums have gone on to become rare
collectors' items, prized as much for their sleeve imagery as their
musical contents. This 4-CD set contains all 3 LPs in their original
running order, restoring material that was sometimes edited out in
order to fit the original playing time. Featuring the collectable cover
art, rare photographs of many of the participating musicians,
reminiscences by Tony Hall and a detailed booklet note by awardwinning saxophonist and author Simon Spillett, this release makes
an ideal introduction to a record label once dubbed "the Blue Note of
British jazz." A further bonus CD assembles a similar mood music
programme from Tempo's later 1957-60 catalogue, including
performances by Tommy Whittle, Eddie Thompson and Tony
Crombie

Surely, Buenos Aires is the Latin American city that most

considers itself European and cosmopolitan, traced to its infancy
as a contraband port that would later experience an explosion of
European immigration. Consistently in and out of economic
crises over the last 30 years, Argentine music fans seeking

Appetite For Destruction was released on 21st July 1987.

Although the album and it's first U.S. single, 'Welcome To The
Jungle,' stagnated for almost a year without making a significant
impact, a personal request from David Geffen assisted in the
'Jungle' video getting played on MTV, albeit only in the wee small
hours. It quickly caught the attention of hard rock fans however,
and the band's popularity exploded. The album produced three
more singles over the next year, including Guns N' Roses' only
No. 1 'Sweet Child O' Mine,' while Appetite For Destruction
reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This recording - broadcast
live from Perkins Palace in Pasadena, CA, on 30th December
1987 - took place just a few months following the release of
Appetite, when the boys were still relatively unknown outside of
their hometown. With the entire band in exceptional form
throughout the performance here, this set is a rare example of
Guns playing an early show while already clearly a musical force
to be reckoned with.

Having disbanded backing band The Revolution, and sacked

singers Wendy & Lisa following the Parade tour in 1986, Prince
consolidated material from two shelved albums, along with some
new songs, into a 3-LP album to be titled Crystal Ball. Warner
Brothers however forced him to trim it to a double, and Sign O'
The Times was born. Peaking at No. 6 on Billboard, the first
single - the record's title track - charted at No. 3. The follow-up, 'If
I Was Your Girlfriend', only reached 67, but third single, the
raunchy duet with former girl-next-door- type Sheena Easton, 'U
Got The Look', with its unforgettable "let's get to ramming" hook,
charted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No. 11 on the R&B chart.
The next album was the controversial Black Album. More
instrumental and funk/ R&B themed than recent releases, The
Black Album also saw Prince experiment with hip hop. All set to
release the album with a monochromatic black cover with only
the catalogue number showing, after 500,000 copies had been
pressed Prince had a spiritual epiphany that the album was evil
and had it recalled. It was later released by Warner Brothers as a
limited edition in 1994, but not before it had been heavily
bootlegged. Prince then went back in the studio for eight weeks
and recorded Lovesexy. Released in 1988, the album served as
a spiritual opposite to The Black Album, every song being a solo
effort by Prince. In 1989 he was asked by Batman director Tim
Burton to record several songs for the upcoming live-action
adaptation. Prince went into the studio and produced an entire
nine-track album that Warners released on 20th June 1989.
Batman peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 4.3 million
copies. In 1990, Prince went back on the road with a revamped
band for his back-to-basics Nude Tour. Prince brought in
keyboardist Rosie Gaines, drummer Michael Bland, and dancing

By 1980 Frank Zappa had endured one of the most turbulent

periods of his career. The working relationship between Zappa
and his long-time manager Herb Cohen had irreparably broken
down due to disagreements over their jointly owned DiscReet
label, and he had also parted ways with Warner Brothers after a
dispute concerning the four disc Lther project, and the label
releasing his material against his wishes, which had resulted in
multiple lawsuits.
Blocked from issuing his own music for over a year, Zappa's
main source of income came from extensive touring which he did
with a number of small, rock-oriented groups throughout the late
1970s. Included here too as bonus cuts are a selection of tracks
from the same tour - broadcast from Paris and Munich
respectively - as well as an extended 1980 interview with Mike
Siegel for Boston TV show 'Five All Night, Live All Night', in which
a typically sarcastic yet droll Zappa answers questions from the
host and the viewers about his family life, his recent legal
troubles and his latest releases.
Making in completion a full 160 minute recording across two
discs, in quite excellent audio quality throughout, this release will
prove a delight for fans and a must have item to add to any
decent Zappa collection.

THE TREMOLO BEER GUT are back with their instrumental spy
surfnwestern garage rock and this time they're live in the flesh:
more cool, more raw, more dirty than ever before. Since the
Danish/Swedish band was formed back in 1998 (specifically as a
LIVE band), the world has been screaming for an album embodying
the intense, dangerous, sexy, evil and oftenmost fairly inebriated
atmosphere that this band creates whenever they set foot on a
stage. Its so good. It is even better than we, you or the band itself
would expect. And thats the reason why the wisecracking band
entitled the album Live, Beyond Our Means.
The Tremolo Beer Gut plays "old school surf & western", a genre
they've thought up themselves, which draws inspirations from the
ultra-cool rough twangy guitar sound of 50s and 60s surf as well
as the great film music of Mancini, Barry and Morricone. The songs
are short and instrumental (apart from occasional shouting and
carrying on). The band was formed after Sune Wagner (The
Raveonettes & ex-Psyched Up Janis) and Yebo (Heavy Trash,
THAU, Junior Senior, etc.) was listening to old surf tapes in a tour
bus. They wondered why there had been no surf bands in Denmark
since the famed and feared OK Kings split up several years earlier.
"It's a great job, and somebody's gotta do it!" they thought and
immediately came up with a name and a concept for the band and
invited their friends Jengo (Trains and Boats and Planes) and Per
Sunding (Eggstone) along for the ride.

A collection of bold and bittersweet songs

from experienced debutants
Straight out of Copenhagen, Crunchy Frog, the label that brought
you such bands as Junior Senior, The Raveonettes and
PowerSolo, presents new local act ONBC.
This might be a debut album, but all four band members have
paid their musical dues, and paid them well. Tanja Simonsen
was the queen of legendary Danish indie pop band superheroes
and the later Private. Mikkel Max and Camilla Florentz were both
in the indie band epo-555, whereas Ivan Petersen fronts The
Boombox Hearts. Adding Tanja to the former line up, ONBC
rises from the ashes of the crash of Oliver North Boy Choir,
and in total, they form an ABBAesque line up, complete with a
blonde, a brunette, and two bearded gents. Its a classic!
Crash, Burn & Cry stems from the imagery of the aerial dogfights
of the World Wars. Recorded in an old WW2 air-raid shelter, the
album centers around an attempt to collect the shrapnel of
adolescence spent in blissful ignorance of ethics, history and
hypocrisy.
There's a bittersweet taste to looking back at coming of age,
reflected both in the sounds and the lyrics of the album. Its the
grand, everlasting themes of love, loathe and death revived in
evocative indie pop, completed by the beautiful, spherical vocal
harmonies of no less than two female front singers.

No, it is not a new Mark Ronson record. Nor is it the latest

from Leon Bridges. Nor Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings.
This is D/troit and it is the name of the latest signing from
Crunchy Frog (junior Senior, The Raveonettes, Thee
Attacks, PowerSolo and more) and Do the Right Thing is
their first release.
The five members of D/troit have all earnt their stripes in garagerock bands like The Magic Bullet Theory and The Breakers
(signed to Little Steven's Wicked Cool label, touring as support
for Bon Jovi etc.). But even though you can certainly sense the
garage background in D/troits music, this is all about great
melodies, great sound and SOUL! Soul and R'n'B from the 60s
and 70s known from the city that gave the band its name: Detroit.
Here were legendary labels like Fortune, Tamla Motown that
have influenced soul music ever since.
"Old school soul and r'n'b from the 60s and 70s is what makes
our hearts beat faster, it is what makes our heads sing and our
abdomens rotate. Soul Music is a timeless force. It speaks to us
all; regardless of race, gender and age. We hope to contribute to

an album that is both highly eclectic and highly addictive.

The Unreal Zound takes its source in PowerSolos latest album,
The Real Sound, both in terms of naming and tracks, but being
the beat-digger that he is, Tue Track has been diving deeper into
the discography of PowerSolo, finding nuggets and gems and
tossing it all into his sonic melting pot. The Real Sound is
genuine rocknroll with a sense of fun, sex and danger to it and
was conceptualized as a compilation of novelty hits and one hit
wonder 7-singles from the 50s, 60s or even the 70s., i.e. the
type of songs that would be found on the Las Vegas Grind and
Nuggets compilations. Thus, the album was (under-)produced,
inspired by the meagre and often grating and rasping recording
techniques of former days. Add Tue Tracks encyclopedic
sources of inspiration, drawing on hip-hop, electro, dub, punk
and no wave of the 80s, 90s and 00s, and you get an album from
the gaddamn future!
For far too long, there has been an unfulfilled potential in doing a
flipped Rick Rubin with a twist, getting a hip-hop producer and a
rock n roll band in the same boat and set the sails for making an
album that challenges, defies and redefines both genres.

THE TREMOLO BEER GUT are back with their instrumental spy
surfnwestern garage rock and this time they're live in the
flesh: more cool, more raw, more dirty than ever before. Since
the Danish/Swedish band was formed back in 1998 (specifically
as a LIVE band), the world has been screaming for an album
embodying the intense, dangerous, sexy, evil and oftenmost
fairly inebriated atmosphere that this band creates whenever
they set foot on a stage. Its so good. It is even better than we,
you or the band itself would expect. And thats the reason why
the wisecracking band entitled the album Live, Beyond Our
Means.
The Tremolo Beer Gut plays "old school surf & western", a genre
they've thought up themselves, which draws inspirations from the
ultra-cool rough twangy guitar sound of 50s and 60s surf as well
as the great film music of Mancini, Barry and Morricone. The
songs are short and instrumental (apart from occasional shouting
and carrying on). The band was formed after Sune Wagner (The
Raveonettes & ex-Psyched Up Janis) and Yebo (Heavy Trash,
THAU, Junior Senior, etc.) was listening to old surf tapes in a
tour bus. They wondered why there had been no surf bands in
Denmark since the famed and feared OK Kings split up several
years earlier. "It's a great job, and somebody's gotta do it!" they
thought and immediately came up with a name and a concept for
the band and invited their friends Jengo (Trains and Boats and
Planes) and Per Sunding (Eggstone) along for the ride.

A collection of bold and bittersweet songs

from experienced debutants
Straight out of Copenhagen, Crunchy Frog, the label that brought
you such bands as Junior Senior, The Raveonettes and
PowerSolo, presents new local act ONBC.
This might be a debut album, but all four band members have
paid their musical dues, and paid them well. Tanja Simonsen
was the queen of legendary Danish indie pop band superheroes
and the later Private. Mikkel Max and Camilla Florentz were both
in the indie band epo-555, whereas Ivan Petersen fronts The
Boombox Hearts. Adding Tanja to the former line up, ONBC
rises from the ashes of the crash of Oliver North Boy Choir,
and in total, they form an ABBAesque line up, complete with a
blonde, a brunette, and two bearded gents. Its a classic!
Crash, Burn & Cry stems from the imagery of the aerial dogfights
of the World Wars. Recorded in an old WW2 air-raid shelter, the
album centers around an attempt to collect the shrapnel of
adolescence spent in blissful ignorance of ethics, history and
hypocrisy.
There's a bittersweet taste to looking back at coming of age,
reflected both in the sounds and the lyrics of the album. Its the
grand, everlasting themes of love, loathe and death revived in
evocative indie pop, completed by the beautiful, spherical vocal
harmonies of no less than two female front singers.
