What is the ISAM Voice
PSTN-based revenue has been shrinking steadily over the last few years due to three distinct factors:
> Decreased number of conversation minutes per subscriber, mainly due to mobile competition
> Decreased average price per minute, due to competition from fixed carriers
> Steadily decreasing subscriber base, due to churn to mobile-only or to competitive service
providers
At the same time, operating costs remain flat at best, with a trend to increase as the network
becomes older and obsolete.
Service providers are also investing in broadband infrastructure and are thinking about:
> How to combine their investment in broadband access with the much needed investments in
modernizing the PSTN network ?
> How to migrate to an NGN-based voice infrastructure ?
> How to consolidate the PSTN central offices (COs) in a few NGN COs?
The ISAM Voice Package is an interesting solution for these customers because:
> It is based on the ISAM family the most powerful access product family for video and high-speed
Internet access (HSIA) on the market today
> It allows service providers to gradually migrate the PSTN services to the broadband infrastructure
they are also deploying
