RESIDENT PROFILE

Steve and Cathy Roszhart

Steve was born and raised in Central Illinois. Cathy
grew up in Southern France and came to the Midwest
during her senior year in High School as a foreign
exchange student. We moved to Arizona last November. After only six months in the valley and attending
many open houses, we found the perfect house in
Sun City Festival. During our first visit to Sun City
Festival, we realized right away that the community
would be the ideal fit for us. Without a doubt, we are
both beyond thrilled with the home we just purchased.
After Cathy had received her Bachelors degree in
Health Communication in May 2014, she and Steve
decided to escape the dreadful Midwestern winters
and make their pre-retirement move to a warmer
state. Steve is a CPA tax accountant and after working for the same firm over 20 years, he was ready for
a change. At the end of tax season 2015 he resigned
from his job.
Summer 2015 turned out to be a sabbatical and
transitional phase during which we were able to
eliminate a major item off our bucket list. Steve and
I set aside 40 days to walk the pilgrimage to Santiago
de Compostela in Northern Spain. For 36 consecutive
days we hiked a distance of approximately 600 miles
carrying only our backpacks. The rest of the summer
we enjoyed family and friends in Europe while staging
our next move.
When we returned from Europe, Steve was offered a
position with his previous employer who after retiring from the firm as managing partner created a new
accounting company. Now Steve does the same work
that he did while working at the office but now he
does it all online. No more commute, no more suit
and ties and he admits the best part of it all is that
now at the end of the working day, he is in Arizona.
By moving to Arizona we reduced the distance which
separated our daughter and son-in-law who for the
past four years who were living in San Francisco. At
Christmas it took only 11 hours to drive up and spend
the weekend with them. However things got even better and in the spring they decided to also relocate to
the sunny valley. June 1st, Nolle and Dave moved to
Phoenix and we are at present only less than an hourdrive away from each other.

We have been in our house for a short time but we

already feel right at home. This house is absolutely
the most perfect house for us. Our neighbors are
lovely people. All have stopped by to say hello and
welcomed us to the neighborhood. As a matter of
fact we are truly impressed with the cordial nature
and sheer friendliness of all people we meet in the
community. We are certainly very pleased with our
neighborhoods peaceful atmosphere (apart from the
occasional coyote howling in the night ), the pristine
landscaping everywhere and the houses most attractive structural designs. Despite the concern of many
folks regarding the distance to the nearest town, we
rather take great pleasure in the short and pleasant
drive to and from Surprise.
We have taken advantage of the swimming pool
several times already. While attending the new
resident orientation at the Sage Center, we enjoyed
meeting several staff members and many friendly
folks who also recently moved to SCF. We look
forward to utilizing the fitness center on a regular
basis and also join certain clubs such as the Hiking
Club and Barrel Buddies Club. We might even give
the Pickleball Club a try. Steve enjoys golfing but
Cathys sport is more in the area of shopping. No
matter what, we both look forward to an active life
and social gatherings with many other Sun City
Festival residents.
