Logo
Description:

Logo for an organization

Programs: Illustrator
Date: June, 11 2016
Course & Section :

Comm 130-Visual Media

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

I made this logo to show my skills in Illustrator and to create a logo that
will help define a company.

Process:
I used Illustrator to create this logo design, where I used the ellipse tool to create
the circles around the text. I made it so text shared the same first letter in the
design. I think the circle affect in the design looks simple and chic.

Web Page
Description:

A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo.

Programs: Text Wrangler using Html/CSS code in Fire Fox

Objectives:
I made this web page to learn the inside of what makes up a web page. It
showcases my skills and knowledge of the programs the process of how I
made the logo.

Process:
I used the colors from the logo in my stationery and business card as the colors for
my web page. I found these colors by opening Photoshop and finding the RGB color
values. I also changed the fonts to Open sans and PT Serif. I added padding around
the logo and text, an opacity over the background, and I learned how to stack
pictures which was a very challenging thing to do.

Instructor: Ben Pingel

Objectives:
I made this flier to showcase my skills in InDesign and my ability to make
a flier for a future company.

Process:
I sketched out ideas, and used them as my foundation. In InDesign, I used
repetition throughout the flier of the diamonds and in the colors. I really
played with the shape to use it as a design element. I emphasizedGraduate so the audience knows its for graduates.

Brochure
Description:

A two sided (duplex) folding brochure.

Programs: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator

Date: July 5, 2016
Course & Section:

Comm 130-Visual Media

Instructor: Ben Pingel

Objectives:
I made this brochure to showcase how all the Adobe programs work together. this brochure is
about women and their beauty all over the world, in the photography project called The Atlas
of Beauty.

Process:
I first started out in InDesign, where I setup a gate outline using rulers. I used repetition
throughout my brochure with the colors, fonts and the picture frames inside the brochure. I
think the textured background give it character and contrast, symbolizing the different parts
of the world.
I created a new logo for this brochure in Illustrator , by using the pen tool to make the silhouette.
For the Indian woman, I used the quick selection tool to take the background out of the photo
to get the woman by herself. I then feathered it and placed it in InDesign. I wrapped the text
around her using the wrap text method.

Photodesign
Description:

This work shows good photography and image editing skills.

Program: Photoshop

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

I created this to showcase my skills in Photoshop on a photo that I took.

Process:
I knew I wanted to do something with dance because I felt like I could get some
really good composition with it. I took this picture in a dome area to have a clash
between a rustic and elegance feel. I changed the dancers shoe, and tight colors
by individually selecting it with the selection tool and changing the hue/saturation. I changed the levels and curves to give it some depth. I also used the color
lookup tool and added Fall color to give it more warmth.

Objectives:

I made this Event Ad to show how Word can be used to create high quality work
on a low budget.

Process:

I first sketched out ideas of what I wanted. I then used Word to make an event ad. I
scanned in a picture and then focused on color scheme, repetition and hierarchy.

Letter Head
Description:

Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo.

Programs: Illustrator & InDesign

Date: June 11, 2106
Course & Section:

Comm 130-Visual Media

Instructor: Ben Pingel

Objectives:
I created this letter head with a logo I created, to show future companies that their letter
heads can be personable to them and their company.

Process:
I created the flower logo in Illustrator and then made the letterhead in InDesign. I like the
idea of a pink letterhead because it is unique and it fits with my theme. The flower was
drawn with the pencil tool to make it have a natural feel..
In the letterhead, I incorporated the dots to make it harmonious with the business card. I put the logo in the top left corner and then I aligned the business
name with it. I placed the contact information on the other side to give it contrast .
I wanted it to be simple but pretty and elegant. I achieved this with the colors,
fonts and logo .

Montage
Description:
An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the
use of typography.

Program: Photoshop

Course & Section:

Comm 130-Visual Media

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:
I created this montage to showcase my blending skills, making them
look seamless.

Process:
I first sketched out rough drafts of what I wanted it to look like in the end. I started looking for pictures of young girls playing basketball and found this one and
also found another girl that could be an older version of the younger girl. I found
a texture that I thought would blend in with the theme and blended all of the images together by changing opacities and using the paint brush tool.
