Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
1. What is the volume of eroded soil in the control set-up
after one (1) week?
2. What is the volume of the eroded soil in the experimental
set-ups after one (1) week of experimentation in terms of:
2.1 Abaca Net;
2.2 Coco Net;
2.3 Abaca Net with Formaldehyde;
2.4 Coco Net with Formaldehyde;
2.5 Abaca Net with Polyurethane; and
2.6 Coco Net with Polyurethane?
3. What is the tensile strength of the fibres in the
experimental set-ups after one (1) week of experimentation in
terms of:
3.1 Abaca Net;

3.2 Coco Net;

3.3 Abaca Net with Formaldehyde;
3.4 Coco Net with Formaldehyde;
3.5 Abaca Net with Polyurethane; and
3.6 Coco Net with Polyurethane?
4. Is there a significant difference in the control and
experimental set-ups in terms of volume of eroded soil after one
(1) week of experimentation?
5. Is there a significant difference in the experimental setups in terms of volume of eroded soil after one (1) week of
experimentation?
6. Is there a significant difference in the experimental setups in terms of the fibres tensile strength after one (1) week of
experimentation?
7. What is the mathematical model of the best optimal
condition in the set-ups in preventing soil erosion?
Null Hypotheses
Ho1: There is no significant difference in the control and
experimental set-ups in terms of volume of eroded soil after one
(1) week of experimentation.

Ho2: There is no significant difference in the experimental

set-ups in terms of volume of eroded soil after one (1) week of
experimentation.
Ho3: There is no significant difference in the experimental
set-ups in terms of the fibres tensile strength after one (1) week
of experimentation.

Conceptual Framework
The main objective of this experimental study was to
determine the behavior of soil when Abaca Net, Coco Net, and
Abaca Net with Formaldehyde and Polyurethane and Coco Net
with Formaldehyde and Polyurethane were used as slope
protection.
Below is the conceptual model presenting a clear view of
the subject under investigation. The diagram is understood by
following the direction of the arrows starting from the installation
of set-ups of the Abaca Net, Coco Net, and Abaca Net with
Formaldehyde and Polyurethane and Coco Net with Formaldehyde
and Polyurethane and the set-ups with no slope protection.
This comparative method is conducted to determine which
processes were stronger to protect the slope upon rainy seasons.

Formaldehyde and Polyurethane is the control set-up. From the

considered factors, the arrow pointing to the box showed the
behavior of the soil upon the instalment and experimentation.

Field and actual analyses of the results followed after the

experimentation. Thus, the behaviors of the soil under the
presence of the four set-ups were identified (See figure 1).
