BROCHURE
Description:

This is a brochure I did for a made up company, Simply Redesigned. I created

the logo and the design inside. The company is an affordable interior design
firm. As you can see, it has some samples of things they do and they help
people redesign their homes in an easy and affordable way while looking chic
and modern.

Programs:

I used Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop

Date:
This project was completed on July 8, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create a sleek and intriguing brochure for a company.

Process:

While designing this brochure, I decided to use pictures from a free

photography site, unsplash.com. They had many interior design
pictures and it helped bring out the professionality of it all. I used
InDesign to create the offset layout and then I decorated each side to
make it look professional. I decided to use a monochromatic color
scheme to add a sleek component to it. I then went into Adobe Illustrator and created a logo that was simple and matched the cirles or
bubbles that were on the inside of the brochure. This added a bit
of repetition. The colors made it stand out and I feel that it has
such a sleek, chic and professional feel.

PHOTODESIGN

Description:

This was a project that stretched my photography skills. I had to work in

Photoshp, which I had never used before.

Programs:

I used Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop

Date:

This project was completed on May 22, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create a poster using a picture I had taken myself and a
very defined color scheme.

Process:

While designing this poster, i had a really hard time in Photoshop I

learned how to layer and cut out objects to be able to add the desired
effect I wanted. I wanted to create a poster for iTunes for a new single
that had come out for a fictional singer. I decided that I wanted my
color scheme to ne the primary colors and Was able to tweek the
colors a bit using Photoshop. I then went into InDesign and created
the circles and words you see behind the singer. Because I wanted the
singer to be the main focus, I had to cut him out and place him on
top of the words to make it look like they were behind him.

MONTAGE
Description:

This is a spiritual montage made by blending two or more images and

working on perfecting the skill of typography.

Programs:

I used Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop

Date:

This project was completed on May 29, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create a sleek and intriguing poster that made

people inspired and understand Gods love for them.

Process:

In this montage, I used three images and blended them together. In the original photo of the hands had rings and a watch in
which it had to cut them out and match the pattern of the skin.
I then had to change the sweater color from green to blue. I
then cut them out and placed them on the starry backgroung.
I then adjusted the color of the planet from a dark blue to a
lighter blue/teal and purple. I then added the text in InDesign
and aded a shadow and glow to the words. I used different
sizes to help make it look more professional.

Objectives:

My objective was to create a sleek and professional letterhead for a

company to use for letters.

Process:

I created my logo in Adobe Illustrator. I used the pen tool to create

the circles and then used the text tool to add the JG in the
center. Once the circles were created, I lined the top with them.
I then added the important information and then added the
logo on the other side. I also added a dotted line to seperate
the top from the letters body of the page. I then added a
large watermark on the body and tilted it. It made it look
professional and chic.

FLIER
Description:

This is a flier for a Leadership Conference for graduates. This is the first
project I ever did using Adobe InDesign.

Programs:

I used Adobe Indesign

Date:

This project was completed on May 6, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create black and white promotional flier to

promote a graduate leadership conference.

Process:

While designing this flier, I designed a few different sketches of

a variety of layouts that I could use. I decided that my second
sketch I did was the one I wanted to try and work with. I used
that design as a guidein Adobe InDesign. I used the gray lines
and my alignment as repetition to unify my poster. I decided
to emphasize one word, (Graduate) in my title for more
contrast, and to create a good focal point. I also thought it
would help me reach my target audience. I left white space and
kept my body copy small. I think it turned out looking very
professional.

EVENT AD
Description:

This is an event ad poster that I had to create using a scanned image and
Microsoft Word.

Programs:

I used Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, PDF Converter

Date:
This project was completed on May 14, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create an intriguing poster announcing an event.

Process:

I scanned the runner on the mountainside image, and then proportionally

enlarged it to be the background of the ad. This left enough white space
for me to work with. Then I added boxes with a blue that matched the
runners shirt and the green that matched the color of the trees. This
added enough repetition and a bit of an artsy feel, especially with the
transparent boxes behind the words. I grew an appreciation for Word
2011and the skills I gained.

WEB PAGE
Description:

This is a web page I created to showcase my CSS and HTML skills. It

was to showcase my Logo project.

Programs:

I used TextWrangler, Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop

Date:

This project was completed on June 24, 2016

Course & Section:

This was Communication (COMM) 130- Design in Section 5

Instructor:

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

My objective was to create a professional Web Page to showcase my

Logo project.

Process:

I created this web page using TextWrangler and Dreamweaver. I

have worked with HTML/CSS before, but this tested my coding
skills. It was interesting to re-learn everything and put it to the
test. It always amazes me on how you can create a web page by
only using a simple text editor. The W3 HTML Validator was
useful to have so that I could check to see if I had any problems
with my code.
