ITEC Portfolio Artifact Reflection

Standard 6.2 Reflection:

Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions
to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technologyenhanced learning experiences.
1. Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was/were
your individual contribution(s)?
I have completed a Weebly blog on my portfolio with numerous reflections for my
Internet Tools class on topics such as screen casting, twitter in the classroom, creative
commons, digital equity, and global diversity. As well as several reflective blogs on
current issues in the Instructional Technology field I wrote a reflective blog after I
completed each course in the program.
2. Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it
is placed.
Completing my weebly reflections on my portfolio blog helped me to evaluate and reflect
upon each of my classes. With each blog post I wrote about what experiences I found
most beneficial and increased my knowledge in instructional technology. I shared what
assignments were most beneficial and what strategies I was able to effectively implement
in my classroom. With each class I completed field experience hours and I was able to
reflect on those experiences as well in my course reflections that are shared publicly on
my online portfolio. In all of my reflective blogs I was able to discuss how technology
tools were able to enhance the rigor of my lessons. Technology was not merely
something else added into the lesson but through my blogs I was able to show how
technology worked in my classroom and how it did not work at times.

3. What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to
improve the quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact?
Reflection is an important part of learning and reflecting on my courses over the past two
years has helped me to clearly outline the lessons learned from each assignment and
document the take away from each course. Publishing these reflections as a blog
allows me to be able to go back and reference each course and assignment. Some of my

blog post were not as through as I would have liked them to be especially now that I am
writing about each standard and artifact.

4. How did the work that went into creating the artifact impact school improvement,
faculty development, or student learning? How can the impact be assessed?
The impact of completing my blog post artifacts can be seen with my own progression
through the Instructional Technology Department. The level of knowledge can be visibly
assessed with each reflection posted.
