Poverty

What is poverty? Why poverty will always happened in some country? What is
the problem that cause poverty happened? Is the poverty has any solution to solve it?
Will poverty happen continuously? These questions are always in every peoples mind
when they heard about the poverty happen in other country or when they watch the
news. Will the people feel depress, nervous and helplessness when their country is
surfing from poverty? If the people feel depress, nervous and helplessness, then will the
people do something to solve the poverty? Poverty is the condition where people's
basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter are not being met. Poverty has now become a
serious problem in the world. The problem of poverty are high rate of unemployment
and the problem could be solved by planning wisely and systematically for the
employment programs that can be supported by the government and encourage people
to come and visit to the country.

There are many reasons why poverty occurs. For example, unemployment, as
people without jobs doesnt have income to overcome their daily request. There are 3
types of unemployment, Cyclical Unemployment, Frictional Unemployment, and
Structural Unemployment. According to Nash (n.d), during the Great Depression, the
unemployment rate pitched as high as 25%. That means one out of four people were
eager and capable to work, but could not find jobs. Most of this joblessness was
considered Cyclical Unemployment. Thoma (n.d) said that Frictional Unemployment is
defined as the idleness that happens when people moves or shifts their current job. Last
but not least, Thoma (n.d) also said that Structural unemployment is defined as
unemployment ascending from technical change such as computerization, or from

changes in the configuration of output due to differences in the types of goods people
demand. Unemployment crisis happens in our country too. From the statistic that I
found, at the year 2004 and 2005, the unemployment rate was 3.5% and then it dropped
to 3.2% for the year 2007. It rose to 3.7% at the year 2009, which is the highest rate in
the past decade. After that, the unemployment rate slowly drops to 3%, which is the year
2013 and 2014. As you can see, our country, Malaysia is now slowly coping the crisis of
unemployment.

Rate of unemployment could be solved by plan wisely and systematically for

the employment programs which supported by the government. Unemployment rate will
increase if the people did not have any skill. Employment generation does a big role on
causing poverty to our country. We should plan wisely and systematically for the
employment programs that are supported by the government that can motivate growth
in jobs. Industries demanding significant labor forces can also be given more aid from
the government. Focus should be placed on developing companies that offer acceptable
and lasting jobs to the community. Companies should also makes a financial plan that
suitable for employee training and linked community programs, so that workers and
potential workers can keep their abilities relevant and up-to-the-minute (Kamble, n.d).
When those labor have been given more aid from the government, it seem to be a cost
for the company but it actually not if the worth of the products enhanced (Smith, n.d).

The low employment rate could be solved in a country effectively to reduce the
problem of poverty. Hence, the government are playing important role to solve these
problems. Encourage tourist to come and visit to our country is not only the way to

increase the rate of employment but also solve the poverty as well. According to Zakaria
(n.d), most countries have tourism officers encourage tourist to come visit their country.
He also stated an example that U.S does the opposite, it tries to keep people out and
only lets in 1 out of 20 people who apply for a visa because its so afraid of terrorism. It
would be a big boost for the economy if loosen the visa process and allow more tourists
to enter. He also mentioned that tourists will spend $4,000 each on a trip and this will
effectively increase the rate of employment. For example, when tourist come to visit a
country, then foreign currency will flow into that country, does providing spike in the
local economy. Hence, the problem of poverty in a country will be solved as well.

In conclusion, some countries are facing a serious problem of poverty due to

low rate of employment. By planning systematically the employment programs that the
government is supporting and encourage foreigners to invest to the country, high rate of
unemployment issue can be eliminated. Everything starts from a point, individual
should take the initiative to support the governments program.
