OBJECTIVE:

Learn how to insert page header and footer


Learn how to place a page border
Learn how to insert a cover page

Header and Footer


The header appears at the top of every page, and the footer appears at the bottom of every page.
The good thing about creating your document header or footer is that you just need to create it
once and it will appear on every page of the entire document.
To create Header or Footer

1. Open the document to which you want to add a header or footer.


2. On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer group, click Header or Footer.

3. The header or footer area will be displayed along with the special contextual Header &
Footer Tools Design tab.

4. You also can do this by double-clicking in the top area of the document where a header
located.
5. Type the text you want displayed in the header.

6. To switch between the header and footer, click the Go To Header or Go To Footer
icons in the Navigation group.

7. To insert a page number, click Page Number in the Header & Footer group.

8. To insert a date or time click Date & Time in the Insert group.

9. When finished, double-click in the document area or click the Close Header And Footer
button in the Close group.

To edit Header and Footer

Open the document to which you want to add a header or footer.


Double-click the header or footer area, to make it visible. Edit the header or footer as
necessary.

button in the Close group.

To delete Header and Footer

Open the document to which you want to add a header or footer.


Double-click the header or footer area, to make it visible.
Delete the header or footer text or graphics, and press the keyboard Delete button.
Alternatively, you also can click Header or Footer in the Header & Footer group, and
click Remove Header or Remove Footer.

Use the Page Numbers gallery


1. On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer group, click Page Number.

2. Click the page number location that you want.

Note The Page Margins location does not include preformatted Page X of Y page numbers.

3. In the gallery, scroll through the options until you see Page X of Y.

4. Click the page number format that you want.


5. To return to the body of your document, click Close Header and Footer on the Design tab
(under Header & Footer Tools).

How to insert a Cover Page


1. Now using you can create a Cover page for your Word Document. This can be done
using the Insert Cover Page option available as part of Insert menu.

2. Click on the Cover Page drop down to display the list of available Cover Page templates

3. Click on the Cover Page Template that you want and this would be inserted in to the
Word Document. Customize the template with required details.
NOTE: If you want to Remove the Cover Page from the document then choose the Remove
Current Cover Page.

Ho to Insert Page Borders


Word 2010 brings page borders in different shapes and styles; you can fully customize page
borders by changing the color, width, thickness, and insert different arts in it.
1. To insert page borders, navigate to Page Layout and click page Borders.

This will open up Page Borders and Shading dialog.


Under Setting select a border type
From Style & Color you can select desired style & color respectively
Click OK to show it in a document

6. As shown above Borders and Shadow dialog has many kinds of page borders along with
different options to customize them in a way you want.
