1 SAMUEL 17:32-51

32 Dont

worry about this Philistine, David

told Saul. Ill go fight him! 33 Dont be
ridiculous! Saul replied. Theres no way
you can fight this Philistine and possibly
win! Youre only a boy, and hes been a
man of war since his youth.

1 SAMUEL 17:34-35
34 But

David persisted. I have been taking

care of my fathers sheep and goats, he
said. When a lion or a bear comes to steal a
lamb from the flock, 35 I go after it with a
club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If
the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw
and club it to death.

1 SAMUEL 17:36-37
36 I

have done this to both lions and bears, and Ill

do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied
the armies of the living God! 37 The LORD who
rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear
will rescue me from this Philistine!
Saul finally consented. All right, go ahead, he
said. And may the LORD be with you!

1 SAMUEL 17:38-39
38 Then

Saul gave David his own armora bronze

helmet and a coat of mail. 39 David put it on,
strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two
to see what it was like, for he had never worn
such things before. I cant go in these, he
protested to Saul. Im not used to them. So David
took them off again.

1 SAMUEL 17:40-42
40 He

picked up five smooth stones from a stream

and put them into his shepherds bag. Then, armed
only with his shepherds staff and sling, he started
across the valley to fight the Philistine.
41 Goliath walked out toward David with his shield
bearer ahead of him,42 sneering in contempt at this
ruddy-faced boy.

1 SAMUEL 17:43-45
43 Am

I a dog, he roared at David, that you come at

me with a stick? And he cursed David by the names
of his gods. 44 Come over here, and Ill give your
flesh to the birds and wild animals! Goliath
yelled.45 David replied to the Philistine, You come to
me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you
in the name of the LORD of Heavens Armiesthe God
of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

1 SAMUEL 17:46-47
46 Today

the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you

and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead
bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals,
and the whole world will know that there is a God
in Israel!47 And everyone assembled here will know
that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword
and spear. This is the LORDs battle, and he will give
you to us!

1 SAMUEL 17:48-49
48 As

Goliath moved closer to attack, David

quickly ran out to meet him.49 Reaching into
his shepherds bag and taking out a stone,
he hurled it with his sling and hit the
Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in,
and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on
the ground.

1 SAMUEL 17:50-51
50 So

David triumphed over the Philistine with only a

sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then
David ran over and pulled Goliaths sword from its
sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his
head. Israel Routs the Philistines
When the Philistines saw that their champion was
dead, they turned and ran.

MATTHEW 21:18-21
18 In

the morning, as Jesus was returning to

Jerusalem, he was hungry,19 and he noticed a fig
tree beside the road. He went over to see if there
were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then
he said to it, May you never bear fruit
again! And immediately the fig tree withered
up.

MATTHEW 21:20-21
20 The

disciples were amazed when they saw this

and asked, How did the fig tree wither so
quickly? 21 Then Jesus told them, I tell you the
truth, if you have faith and dont doubt, you can
do things like this and much more. You can even
say to this mountain, May you be lifted up and
thrown into the sea, and it will happen.

It is the same with my word. I
send it out, and it always

Do this, they do it.

MATTHEW 8:10-11
10 When

Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning

to those who were following him, he said, I tell
you the truth, I havent seen faith like this in all
Israel! 11 And I tell you this, that many Gentiles
will come from all over the worldfrom east and
westand sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and
Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.

MATTHEW 8:12-13
12 But

many Israelitesthose for whom the

Kingdom was preparedwill be thrown into
outer darkness, where there will be weeping
and gnashing of teeth. 13 Then Jesus said to
the Roman officer, Go back home. Because
you believed, it has happened. And the
young servant was healed that same hour.
