1. Windows installation
What will we need?
Since we're going to do a nice clean install of windows 10 we're going to need some
tools to install win 10 first.
Use this:

Rufus

USB with 4GB or more

Windows 10 ISO image

Once you have ISO image for windows and Rufus, and your 4GB USB its time to
create your image. Steps:
1. Plug your USB
2. Run Rufus
3. Select your USB as shows 1. File system
is going to be set automatically, so dont
change that (2.). Clicking on 3. You can
select your ISO image windows image.
4. Press start and wait, also read next few
steps before you do them!
5. Close Rufus
6. Restart your PC
7. While your PC is restarting enter BIOS. Set
boot to USB.
8. Save BIOS and your PC will restart.
9. Windows should boot installation from your
USB.
After these steps, install windows 10. I wont go into details how, you will have to do it
yourself. Remember just that when you get to customization part (of win 10 installation)
use custom and turn everything off.
After windows are installed I recommend that you install office too, run word and set
use recommended...
After that run windows update and completely update windows. From there go to point
2 in this guide.

2. Programs you will need

Here I will list programs that you need for optimizing your windows experience.
They are all free. Now, before you went all rushing in and start windows update I
recommend you install these programs. These are the ones we will need:
a) Wise disk cleaner
b) Wise registry cleaner
c) MyDefrag
d) Eusing registry cleaner
e) Ccleaner
f) Ccenhancer
g) Speccy
Download them and install in no specific order (except for CCehnahcer, it has to be
installed after CCleaner).

3. Windows drivers
Final step before we can move further is installing drivers. Now theres a shitload
of different hardware out there and its hard to find all the correct drivers but heres how
you can do it easily. As I mentioned before, theres a program named Speccy that you
should have had installed. It shows what your pc has, and here is what mine has:
Intel CPU, Asus motherboard, Nvidia Graphics card, SSD Samsung and Hitachi HDD,
8GB ram and more. Why is this important? By using this program (and clicking on each
of the things it shows you get details about chipsets, manufacturers and etc. Most of
that info can be seen here GTX980, i7 Crystallwell, etc. Using Intel CPU means also
that I have an Intel CHIPSET. I can check which one it is by clicking on motherboard,
but I wont do it because theres no need since my chipset is newer. Users with older
PC-s should check, just to confirm compatibility with the driver were about to
download.

Here is how piriform Speccy shows your PC stats:

Since most of users use Intel / ati /NVidia / realtek I will post links to newest drivers
here:
1. Intel chipsets here you can select intel chipset device software (INF update
utility). Older PC users should check their chipset with Speccy, and on the same
page there is INF update utility primarily for Intel 6,5,4,3, etc... and download
that driver.
2. IF you have AMD hardware you can download drivers HERE
3. IF you have NVidia hardware you can download drivers HERE
4. Most of you are probably using onboard sound card, and usually that is RealTek
sound card. Drivers for RealTek can be found HERE.
5. Direct X 9.0C (yes, even if you have DirectX 11 on windows 8.1 some of the
9.0C files are needed to run games. Download HERE.

Order to install drivers:

a) Install Intel Chipset drivers.
b) Install RealTek sound drivers. If you use other soundcard instead of onboard,
be sure to use SPECCY before installing to check under audio what the name
of your device is. If its not RealTek, find appropriate drivers by googling.
c) Install AMD / NVidia drivers.
d) Finally install DirectX
There is a lot of other drivers that I wont mention here because of very different
hardware everywhere. These drivers include the next: Bluetooth, WLAN, LAN, SSD,
CPU drivers (usually some programs for controlling usage etc...), mouse, keyboard,
display (monitor, not GPU), printer, card readers and other drivers. Drivers that are
mentioned up there are a bare minimum, and mostly windows will cover everything
else, but if you received a CD / DVD from some of your PC components with drivers
on it, it would be smart to install it. Or even better option is to visit that manufacturers
web site and download latest (since CDs tend to have old drivers).

4. Fixing windows long section covering evr

Steps to disable unnecessary features:
1. Open control panel
2. Open programs and features
3. Click on Turn off or on windows features
4. Once there remove tick from these:
a. TCP port sharing (under 3.5 framework)
b. IE 11
c. Media features
d. Internet printing client
e. Remote differential compression API support
f. SMB 1.0 / CIFS
g. Windows location provider
h. Work folders
i.

XPS services & viewer

5. Hit OK, wait for removal to be finished.

6. Restart PC

Tweak 1:

Enabling write caching and

disabling windows

write cache buffer

flushing.
Steps to enable these tweaks:
1. Open control panel
2. Open device manager
3. Open disk drives
4. Right click on any of your drives and
open properties.
5. You should have a tab Policies
there with some options. This is how
it should look:
6. Repeat steps 4-5 for every disk. If
you have a Desktop PC, leave 2nd
option off.

Tweak 2: Turn off hibernation.

Steps:
1. Press windows key + Q
2. Write CMD
3. Right click on command prompt
4. Hit Run as Administrator
5. CMD will open with admin privileges
6. Write powercfg h off
7. Hit enter

Tweak 3: AHCI mode in BIOS

You can check / set your HDD or your SSD to work on an AHCI mode, that is, your
controller. If by any chance theyre set to some mode that isnt AHCI, your drives are
underperforming.
Steps:
1. Restart PC
2. Keep hitting BIOS button
3. Once in BIOS find settings thats called something like IDE / SATA mode or
something similar
4. Set mode to AHCI
5. Save setting and exit bios

Tweak 4: Turn off recovery

Now I know most of you would be: OMG YOU TURN OFF RESTORING? Thats
correct. Why? Because I have never, ever used it. I usually do formatting every 2-3
years depending on my system performance and stuff. And yes you should be careful
how you use your PC, installing spyware, bloat ware and other malformed programs
that do stuff is not advised. I could go on how to do it, but you can leave your restore
on if you think you cant keep your PC clean.
Steps:
1. Open control panel
2. Open system
3. Click on the left on system protection
4. Select your drive with protection ON
5. Hit configure
6. Set usage to 1%, delete restore points, disable
system protection
7. Hit apply / ok and accept everything it asks you

Tweak 5: Verify if TRIM is enabled

TRIM are actions that CLEAN your SSD so it doesnt lose any of its ability and
performance. OS does them by itself so we are going to check if that option is on.
Steps:
1. Press windows key + q
2. Write CMD
3. Right click on Command prompt
4. Run as administrator
5. Write fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
6. If it says DisableDeleteNotify = 0, TRIM is enabled
7. If it by any means says 1, google how to enable TRIM and do it.

Tweak

6:

Disable

automatic

defragmentation.
Steps:
1. Press windows key + r
2. In run window write dfrgui
3. Run
4. Disable optimization schedule
and defragmentation on each
drive.

Tweak 7: Disable SuperFetch

Since windows 7, theyre utilizing a thing called SuperFetch. That is actually a caching
technique that collects most used data and prepares it to fast access by your disk.
Since it does take around 300MB of your RAM, and we want it all! Together with SSD
whose data access are around 0.05ms (Super-fast) no need for caching.
Steps:
1. Open control panel
2. Open administrative tools
3. Run services
4. Find SuperFetch
5. Right click it and open properties
6. Set startup type to disable and apply

Tweak 8: Disable indexing

Indexing is usually used to increase search
performance of files, items and more. Since
we got SSD that runs REALLY fast, we dont
need that anymore. It uses system resources
and for no reason apparently anymore for us.
Oh yeah, leave that option ON for your HDD
(if you have one).
Steps:
1. Open my computer
2. Right click on a drive
3. Select properties
4. Remove tick from Allow files on this
drive to have content indexed..
5. When asked select all files, folders and
subfolders.
6. Repeat steps for each SSD
7. Next up, open control panel
8. Open Indexing options
9. Select modify, and remove all indexed items

Tweak 9: Disable unnecessary services

Here are steps on how to disable unneeded services that run in Windows and arent
much of use. You will release some CPU and memory usage when disabling them.
Steps:
1. Open administrative tools
2. Open services
Do the next for each service:
1. Right click on the service
2. Open properties
3. Select startup type disabled
Heres the list of services to do so:
-

AMD external events utility

distributed link tracking client

all hyper-V services

IP helper

office 64 source engine

offline files

WLAN autoconfig (if you dont use WLAN)

Now this list is the same, just put these services to startup type manual.
-

Diagnostics policy service

Program compatibility assistant

Windows event log

TCP/IP NetBIOS helper

Tweak 10: Power settings

Power options hide many tricks and treats for people who meddle with it. You probably
didnt know that your PC underperforms because someone set it to Balanced by
default? Oh yeah.
Steps:
1. Open

power

options in control
panel
2. Select

show

additional plans
3. Set

high

performance
(hidden plan) as
active

4. Click on choose what the power

buttons do
5. Click on the text Change settings
that are currently unavailable
6. Deselect Turn on fast startup

Tweak 11: Visual performance

Tweaking setting in system can
really win performance and
security over your PC.
Steps:
1. Open system (control
panel)
2. Click on remote settings
3. Deselect remote
assistance
4. Open tab advanced
5. Open performance
6. Under visual effects
select best
performance, but
enable Peek, shadows under cursor, thumbs
instead of icon, and drop shadows on icon
labels, and smooth edges of screen font.

Steps:
1. Press windows key + r
2. Write msconfig
3. Hit ok

4. Open boot tab

5. Check No GUI boot
6. Set timeout to 3 sec
7. Hit ok and DONT restart

Tweak 13: disable RADAR and OneDrive completely (works only on PRO version of
windows)
Now some of you who dont need OneDrive could have noticed that its still running
active even if we disabled everything in metro PC settings for OneDrive. Also RADAR
resource exhaustion boring ass shit.
Steps:
1. Press windows key + r
2. Write gpedit.msc and hit enter
3. Open computer configuration
4. Open administrative templates
5. Expand windows components
6. Find OneDrive and select it
7. Double click on Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage
8. Set to enabled and press OK
9. Now under administrative templates open system
10. Then open troubleshooting and diagnostics
11. Find Windows Resource Exhaustion Detection and resolution
12. Open configure scenario execution level

13. Set to disabled and hit OK

Tweak 13: startup

Startup programs might clog your PC from
fast booting. Also there are frequently a lot
of programs that do nothing but have to be
loaded because manufacturer said so.
Bollocks! Anyway lets see how to get rid of
it. Steps:
1. Hit ctrl + alt + Del
2. hit Task manager
3. Show more details / full details / lower
left arrow button
4. Open startup tab
5. Right click and disable everything
except drivers / anything that you need instantly and firewalls.

Steps:
1. Open settings
2. Go network
3. Go advanced options
4. Turn off metered, and pc discoverable
5. Return and go Wi-Fi settings
6. Turn off everything

Tweak 17: Privacy fixes

Steps:
1. Open settings
2. Go privacy
3. Turn off everywhere in each of the left setting panels
4. Under feedback set Basic send diagnostic and ask feedback never
5. Turn off all unneeded background apps in background apps panel
6. Go to main settings menu
7. Go accounts, sync and turn off everything
If you are using any of the apps, or any of the parts of windows that Ive described to
turn off, you don't have to really turn them off. We're just working on extracting the
maximum power. Also some options will be off if you are not using a Windows/ MS
account.

5. Windows cleaning
Now most of you might not know but theres a windows disk cleaner. Who does a shitty
job so be prepared to wait a few hours for 300MB?
Steps:
1. Open MY computer
2. Right click on your C
3. Select properties
4. When opened, select disk cleanup
5. When

6. When that completes, select all
7. Hit OK and wait for cleaning.

If

you

have

installed

CCleaner

CCEnhancer after it, then its time to clean

with it. Steps:
1. Run CCleaner
2. Select everything under both Tabs,
that doesnt pop up a box. If popup
jumps, leave that one off.
3. Analyze first, check and run.

select

3. Run scan
4. Clean

after

its

done

Now, before we go to clean with Eusing, I suggest you get back to CCleaner (open it
up) and hit registry, and hit scan for
issues there. Once done hit fix selected
issues. Then select no and press fix all.
Once done, close CCleaner and
startup Eusing registry cleaner.
Steps:
1. Run Eusing
2. Hit skip
3. Hit scan registry issues

10. Hit optimize
11. Open Registry defrag
12. Hit analyze
13. Hit defrag now (It will restart your PC). Also, do it even if its green and >2%

And my final program for optimizing drives and your PCs is My Defrag.
Note 1: BE AWARE USE ONLY ON HDDs!!!!
Steps:
1. Run program
2. On main select System disk
Monthly
3. Check your system disk (ONLY IF
ITS HDD SSD users skip this

defragmenting.
5. Once done it should work pretty
much faster.
6. Run the program again
7. Now select Data disk monthly

8. Check box next to your data disk. (Again if SSD is your DATA DISK, DO NOT
USE THIS PROGRAM).
9. Hit run and wait until its done. Restart PC, enjoy your fast Windows!
