environment. This will be solved by looking at examples and how they can be
implemented for marina construction projects.
6. A brief description of the methodologies applied.
A review of the book content and website content was applied for this project.
7. The Main Body of the project: Based on the process model in Assignment 1
(above) (Note: The DVD videos in your eLearning Pack offer excellent
process examples with requirements analysis opportunities !)
1. CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS: Identify critical requirements, as
described in Appendix A, and
2. HOW these apply to your company.
Additional Critical Requirements:
Site Location: This has a huge important on how the project will be run.
Depending upon the location to the water, the size of the slips and the
vicinity to transportation will direct how the project will run. Even the
access to electricity and work force will be a limiting factor on what can be
built.
Planned Population: The factor is the type of people who will be using the
marina. If they are more of the deep sea fishing types, then larger boats
and larger slips will be needed. Additional facility for gutting fish and
keeping it fresh will be required as well. If it is more recreationally, the
facilities for Wave Runners and boat ramps will be required. This will also
need to make sure that any trucks that get close to the water to not drop
any toxic liquids into it.
Cost: Cost is important in any project, and this is no different. A good
understanding of what the client wants and how much they can spend is
essentially to giving them a product they can be happy with. This client is
willing to give you money, so the company needs to make sure it is spent
well and efficiently.
Company Culture: This is not a tangible requirement, but something that
will need to be strong for the company to succeed. The people who work
at EarlE are driven to always do their best and improve themselves both
professionally and personally. They want to do their best when they go to
work every day and they feel proud of the work they did when they go
home. This type of culture is not easy to foster, but when it is, it can
create a very high functioning organization.
3. Write ABOUT YOUR EM / Project Management DECISIONS: What are
your decisions as an Engineering Project Manager and why? Write

reflects your active participation in the class based on discussions
of the articles I am emailing you every week or so...)

None.
12. New feature of this course: grade your own assignment and let me know
why you have given yourself the particular grade. The reason why I am
asking you to do this is because unfortunately some of you miss a lot in
every assignment... by having to grade yourself, hopefully you'll recognize
this issues, follow the syllabus and submit a proper assignment...
All project requirements have been identified and addressed. 10/10
