In addition to procurement procedures, the Board requires that the
contract for construction includes specific language to permit control of the behavior of the contractor's and subcontractors' employees. The contractor will also be required to ensure that its employees are not listed on the sex offender registry list for the jurisdiction where they live, as required by Policy 5.16.
Prior to awarding a contract for the provision of services that require
the contractor or his employees to be in the presence of students during regular school hours or during school-sponsored activities, the School Board will require the contractor and, when relevant, any employee who will have direct contact with students, to provide written certification (1) that he/she has not been convicted of a felony; (2) that he/she has not been convicted of any offense involving the sexual molestation or physical or sexual abuse or rape of a child, (3) whether he/she has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude; and (4) that he/she is not currently required and will not be required during the period of employment, to be registered on the sex offender registry for the jurisdiction where he/she lives or any registry in Virginia.
