No number called the dozen, score, gross, great gross etc shall be specified on the package.
Only international Syatem of Units shall be used in furnishing net Quantity of the package
For items sold by number the symbol should be N or U.
Rule 15
In cases where the dimensions and weight or their combination has a relationship to the price
of the commodity then in those cases the declaration also has to provide such dimenshions,
weight or combination.
Rule 18
Provisions relating to wholesale dealer and retail dealers
No wholesale dealer or retailer or any other party shall obliterate, smudge or alter the retail
sale price, indicated by the manufacturer or the packer or the importer.
The manufacturer/packer/importer shall not alter the price on the wrapper once printed and
used for packing.
Rule 23

Deceptive packaging to be repacked or in default seized.

Rule 24
Declarations applicable to be made on every wholesale package

Every wholesale package must bear a legible, definite, plain and conspicusous
declaration as to

a. name and address of the manufacturer or importer or where the manufacturer or

importer is not the packer, of the packer
b. the identity of the commodity in the package
c. the total number of retail package in the wholesale package or the net quantity in
standard units
Rule 25
Any export package shall not be sold in India unless the manufacturer or packer has
repacked or relabeled the commodity in accordance with the provisions of these rules.
Rule 26
These rules shall not find application under the following circumstances
a. the net weight or measure of the commodity is ten grams or ten mili litre or less, if sold
by weight or measure
b. any package containing fast food items packed by restraunt or hotel and the like.
c. agricultural form produces in packages of above 50 Kg
