COMMUNITY BASED SANITATION (SANIMAS)

Community Innovation :
1.

Using the top of treatment plant as public facilities i.e

community meeting hall, sport hall, etc

2.

Using some part of road as treatment plant

3.

Using ex plastic bottle as filter media for treatment

4.

Process and use methana gas as alternative energy

for cooking

5.

Manhole manufacture by community

SLUDGE TREATMENT PLANT (STP)

Sludge Treatment Plant is a facility to process waste

water sludge from individual septic tank or from
comunal treatment plant to ensure safe discharge to
environment.
Objective : preventing domestic waste water pollution
Status :

Out of about 500 cities, only 134 have STP

Furthermore, not all STPs are well

and big cities in Indonesia
Implemented in in 4 (four) cities such as :
Cimahi, Jambi, Makassar & Pekanbaru

JAKARTA SEWERAGE SYSTEMS

Jakarta Sewerage Project is the construction and
development sewerage infrastructure (treatment
plant and pipeline systems) in Jakarta
DKI Jakarta wastewater development planned in 3
phase, and divided into 14 zones
The construction will be implemented on 3 term
phase, which are; short-term, mid-term, and longterm.
Total capital cost: Rp. 69 Trillion ( USD 6,8 Billion).
The short-term priority area for sewerage
development are Zone 1 and Zone 6.

Challenges :
1. A large amount of financial needs
2. It still needs support from others financial funding
source outside government budget
3. Required high technology in implementation such
as pipe jacking, shield tunneling, waste water
treatment plant, etc
4. It needs accelaration in implementation to
support National Capital Integrated Coastal
Development (NCICD)

Infrastructure development
for off-site sewerage systems

The project is designed to involve the installation of 52 kms of

trunk and main sewers and 61,000 sewer connections, and the
construction of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in each city,
with a total installed capacity of 59,000 m3 per day.

Project implementation and

capacity development
support

The project will also provide management support and training for:
(i) procurement and construction supervision in each city, and (ii)
capacity building for the design and implementation of operation
and management of sanitation facilities
