1. What type of program is MS Excel?
Microsoft Excel is an application software mainly used for creating spreadsheets, It
can also be used for creating charts and other diagrams and also database. It is
spreadsheet program.

2. What is a Spreadsheet Program? Give an example


A spreadsheet is an interactive computer application program for organization and
analysis of data in tabular form. Spreadsheet allows the user to perform calculations
and create formulas that automatically calculate answers.
Ex: MS Excel, Kingsoft Spreadsheets.

3. What is MS Excel?
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application developed by Microsoft. It features
calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language
called Visual Basic For Application

4. What are Logical functions? Give an example


Excel Logical Functions are used to introduce decision making into your
spreadsheet.
Ex: FALSE function, TRUE function etc.

5. Mention the number of Rows and Columns in MS Excel?


1048576 Rows & 16384 Columns.

6. What is the output when =NOW() function is written in MS Excel?


It shows current dat and current time.

7. What is a Cell & Active Cell?


Cell: An intersection of row and column where data, formulas, functions can be
entered.

Active Cell: The selected cell is known as


an active cell.

8. Write the Excel formula for Subtraction with an Example


=A1-A2
Ex: If 2 is typed in cell A1 and 1 is typed in cell A2, the formula is applied in a different
cell =A1-A2 and the answer is displayed as 1.

9. Mention the different formulas available in option in the Home Tab?


Sum, Average, Count Number, Max, Min.

10. What are Charts? Mention any two types


Charts are visual representations of worksheet data.
Ex: Pie Chart, Line Chart.

12. What is Sorting and Filtering? With Examples


Filtering: The filtering option allows the users to display the results which are
common or which are unique.
Ex:

arranged in ascending or descending or
alphabets can be arranged from A to Z or

The IF function checks to see if a condition you specify is true or false.
Ex: =IF(logical test, [value if true], [value if false])

Formulas are entries that have an equation that calculates the value to display.

Column Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Area Chart, Pie Chart, Scatter Chart, Pivot
Chart.

In the Cell and in the formula bar.

17. What is a Worksheet?


A worksheet is an arrangement of rows and columns, making up cells into which
various types of data and formulas can be entered. Each Row is numbered. Each
Column is headed by a lettere or combination of letters.

18. What do you mean by merging a cell?


Joins the selected cells into one larger cell, this is often used to create labels that
span multiple columns.

19. What is Conditional Formatting?


The Conditional Formatting allows the users to change colour or sheets of cells based
on certain conditions or a particular logic.

Make all the content visible within a cell by displaying it on multiple lines.

PivotTables make it easy arrange and summarize complicated data and drill down
on details.
