Security Duties
Principal duties of the Security are as follows:1. To protect the property of the Company at all times against theft be it committed by
employees or intruders.
2. To ensure that all regulations of the Company affecting the security of its property and
property of employees are carried out.
3. To pay attention to all terminal equipment and facilities during tour of duty and report to
Team Leaders / Co-ordinators and / or Fire & Safety Officer of any obvious signs of
abnormality.
4. To see that fire-fighting equipment remains in designated locations and is not obstructed
and inaccessible.
5. To ensure that no unauthorised parties or vehicles gain access to Company premises.
6. To ensure that all visitors are courteously received, assisted and diverted in a manner
which will reflect the Companys image. To record all such details of visitors and
vehicles in the appropriate registers.
7. To ensure all contractors have the necessary permits (Eg. Employees work permits, SOC
passes, authorisation to work) before allowing them into the terminal. A proper Daily
Register shall be maintained.
8. To record all vehicles visiting the terminal to collect or deliver materials and to issue Gate
Passes for authorisation by the department concerned.
9. To implement the companys right of search of employees and contractors and ensure
Company property is not taken from site without authority. No dangerous weapons,
drugs, intoxicating drinks, hazardous materials, etc. are allowed into the terminal.
10. To require the production of authorisation for the removal of Company property including
borrowed tools (Eg. Approved material pass)
11. To accept important keys for safekeeping and issue then to authorised persons. To
maintain a key register for this purpose.
12. To record all security and safety related occurrences in a daily logbook for the
information of the Security staff, Management and other interested persons.
13. To regulate the movement of traffic and organise and control the parking of
vehicles/bicycles whilst in the Company premises.
14. To assist the Weighbridge / Traffic personnel.
15. To check the Weigh-tickets handed in by drivers of loaded vehicles leaving the site and
ensure that all entries are correct. To take necessary actions of notification and reference
back to Traffic Office when a contravention is found.

16. To respond to any activation of the Fence Intruder Detection System (FIDS) or other
warning alarm device by putting into effect the pre-arranged plans for such eventuality
17. To handle telephone calls during an emergency as well as after office hours.
DUTIES OF SECURITY GUARD IN AN EMERGENCY
During office hours

a. All guards to report to the Guard House.


b. The Duty Guards will assist to liaise with
SCDF during office hours.
c. The Duty Guard to collate a list of all the
personnel still in the terminal upon hearing
the All Emergencies alarm and hand
the list to the Evacuation Officer at the
Terminal Assembly Point (TAP) for
purpose of command and control.
d. Prohibit unauthorized visitors and press
reporters from entering the terminal.
e. Guide SCDF upon their arrival. Hand over
walkie-talkie set to SCDF Officer-InCharge.

After Office Hours

A Guard shall assist to alert the relevant


external services such as SCDF, MPA,
Police, etc. and key personnel.

Use the standard checklist for emergency


calling.

Censor all unimportant telephone calls.

To perform the role of an Evacuation


Officer.
