I N T R E P I D

Intrepid is a hypothetical collection of games, developed for virtual

reality platforms. It is targeted to individuals who wish to overcome
a phobia, by virtually exposing themselves to the trigger of their
fear. The game strategy is based on Systemic Desensitisation principles, according to which patients are encouraged to face feared
situations gradually and repeatedly, until they feel less anxious.
Selachophobia is the game dealing with the irrational fear of sharks
and water.

Users create an account by buying the game and providing the serial
number. The game plan is generated from the website or app, based
on the questionnaire that the user is asked to complete, involving
questions about the severity of their phobia, the time available and
their goals. It is possible to change both time and settings later on.
There is also an option to play unranked without the plan being
affected.
The plan consists of sessions (one sitting), which in turn are divided
into tasks (a single game taking place in one virtual location). Selachophobia has four locations: Oceanarium, Marine Park, Beach,
and Boat. Each one of them has its own missions, which are the main
way to gain points, along with achieving daily real life challenges.
This is what the monitor looks like to others during the game. The player is immersed inside the 3D virtual environment.

The Oceanarium is the introductory level. The player visits the

inside of an underwater tunnel and goes past checkpoints, seeing
gradually more sharks of higher realism. The Marine park is a restrained way to interact with sharks since they are in a pool. Players
can also disable any trigger and get used to the feeling of water. The
Beach is an intermediate level, exposing the player to open water
and includes beach activities such as surfing. The Boat is the most
complete location and allows deep water activities such as cage
diving.
Once I had a basic concept in mind, I made a tree-map for each
platform to demonstrate the screen content. There are guides indicating how each element behaves and interacts according to its color
and comment explanations. If you are interested in giving them a
look you can download them from dropbox. Due to their large size
they cant be viewed on the dropbox website.

Application & website

The website and mobile application focus on planning the therapy sessions,
tracking user progress, and they have some supplementary features such as
Three-minute Phobia. The website has a social section as well, with a forum and
personal journals to enhance motivation and commitment. The three media provide and receive data from a unique database for each user.

Login, main menu and planner screen. Rearrangement of three days (six sessions).

Screens 1 & 2
The first screen is as seen before Friday 21:00 so the reminders are still activated. Incomplete sessions are fixed on top and are editable, as is the daily challenge. The calendar is
horizontally scrollable to give direct access to another day. The move button works in the
same way as in the the planner screen. After the first session is completed, the session is
available for viewing but not editing.

Screen 1
View of the second session which is still incomplete. There is one finished task and two
unfinished. The tasks behave in a similar way to sessions. Unfinished tasks sit on top
and are editable, while finished ones are only viewable. Like days and sessions, they can
be moved, created or deleted anytime.

Screen 2-5
Expanded view of Task 4. The task boxes respond to tapping like drop-down menus, revealing the game settings that are already planned by the program or user. The variables
themselves also work as drop-down menus, revealing the available options. The Missions
vary depending on the selected location.

Screens 1-3
View of the first session which is complete. There are now fear ratings before and after
the task was done, which help the user decide whether to proceed on the next task or
repeat the last one.

Screen 4
The users progress.

Since the function of the site is similar to the application, I only designed the homepage to give
a general idea of the look and feel. A rough sitemap can be found at the bottom menu.

P L A Y M O D E

Playmode is a hypothetical action that promotes classical music. For

the campaign, several shelters are placed throughout the city, each
of them containing one ore more classical instruments. For this project I created the identity and visual presence of the campaign.
The purpose of the campaign is to provide musicians a medium to
express their art, improve their performance skills and get feedback.
Also, to build a community, encouraging artists to interact with
each other, adopt new styles, exchange ideas and promote themselves. Finally, it aspires to shine a light onto classical music and
attract a wider and younger audience.
There are six types of booths: piano, cello, guitar duet, violin duet,
winds duet and piano quartet (piano, cello, violin and viola). On the
door there are lock devices that accept the artists personal password and accordingly grant access. The devices inform the main
database that the particular user has entered (or left) the shelter.
Meanwhile other artists can request access and be put on queue by
the device.
On the website and app, users can search shelters based on location, instrument or activity, and get information about them (exact
location, instrument inventory, queue) and the artists that may be
playing. They can rank, review and donate on the artists profile.
To be able to enter the booths and play, a user must enroll for artist
membership.

The main logo combines the bass clef and the location symbol. The icons are
useful for posters, signage, and can serve as UI elements to distinguish between
instruments.

The user can search either active (colored) shelters if he wants to attend, or inactive (greyed out) if he wants to perfprm,
and can provide additional search criteria. Ative booths with a friend inside have a notification.

In PlayMode we wish to give anyone the ability to give a high quality performance
without expert skill or special arrangement. For that reason, the only thing you
will need to participate is an artist memberhip. Once you have subscribed to one
of our plans, you will be given your personal PlayCode, which allows you access

to all of our shelters! To enter, simply type the code on the locker outside the shelter or
request to be put on queue.

Proud viola teacher, still learning from my beloved students who always manage to surprise me!
Come listen to me playing violin solos, or catch me in the central piano quartet with my talented
colleagues! If you like what you hear, leave me a review or consider donating to keep me going!

Favorite composers: Bach, Marin Marais, Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Stavinsky, etc.

My all time favorite piece is Bachs Chaconne from his 2nd Violin Partita.
I am in love with the entire baroque era and you can definately tell from my playing!

Castle 302 is an experimental rock/electronic band of two young musicians. I created the
logo, album cover and social presence to fit their style.
