Direction for question number 1 to 3:
After getting 99 percentile in CAT 2015 seven friends P, Q, R, S, T, U and V started organizing
dinner parties on seven consecutive days from Monday to Sunday (not necessarily in the same
order). Each one of them organized exactly one party. On none of the days, more than one party
was organized. They decided that only four kinds of items viz. Cheese sandwich, Pasta, Pastry and
Hotdog would be ordered for the dinner parties. The costs per plate of Cheese sandwich, Pasta,
Pastry and Hotdog were Rs. 25, Rs. 45, Rs. 20 and Rs.15 respectively. The following additional
information was available:
I. In each of the dinner parties, total number of plates ordered, taking all four items together was
either 8 or 9.
II. Each dinner party had different combination of number of plates of different items and each
type of item was ordered for at least one plate but not more than three plates.
III. Q hosted the party immediately after U.
IV. P, R, S and V had ordered for more number of plates than the other three and hosted their
parties immediately one after the other in that order only.
V. The total number of plates of Cheese sandwich, Pasta, Pastry and Hotdog ordered were 14,
16, 18 and 12 respectively including all dinner parties.
VI. In each dinner party, at least three items were ordered for 2 or more plates.
Only U, Q and P ordered for 2 Pastries each in the parties they hosted. Also, only Q, T, P, R and
V ordered for 2 plates of Pastas each in the parties they hosted and only U and R did not order
for 2 plates of Cheese sandwich each in the parties they hosted.

Direction for question 1-3:
Eight teams participate in the World Hockey championship2016 in which they play one
another exactly once. The winner gets three points while the loser gets no points from a
match. Both the teams get one point each if the match results in a draw. It is known that
not more than 3 matches resulted in a draw in the tournament.
The teams are ranked in the following manner before the tournament starts:

The new ranks of the eight teams would be decided based on their performance in the
championship, with the team scoring the maximum points ranked 1 and so on. If two or
more teams score equal points in the tournament, their final ranks will be determined on
the basis of total number of goals scored by them where the team with higher number of
goals score shall get better rank.
A turn-around is said to have happened when a lower ranked team defeats a higher
ranked team in a match.
