only he can play with.

Round Choice - When you choose a round/Role , everyone else gets to do it, but you
get a special bonus or only you get to do it. The roles that are not selected may be
given extra incentive to be chosen next turn.
(Puerto Rico, Smallworld, Race for the Galaxy)
Worker Placement - You have a limited number of units, which you use to take
various actions which give you different resources. (Messopotamia, Shogun)

Drafting - The deck goes around the circle, each player choosing a card one at a
time.

Push Your Luck - Take a riskier choice for a greater potential reward.

Deckbuilding - There are two resources, one which you use to buy other resources,
and one which you use to acomplish a goal/win the game.
You start with basic resources, and build up to a stronger deck, keeiping in balance
so the "victory" resource doesn't fill up your hand till the end of the game.

Area Control - Opponents vie for control of areas that give advantages/points by
expending their resources to control that area (Carcassone, Messopotamia)

Variable Turn Order - The order of the turns taken changes every round (Shogun)

Hidden Turn Order - All or part of the order of turns is unknown (Shogun)

Battle Tower - Troops are placed in a tower, the troops that come out determine the
result of the conflict (Shogun)

Map Fog - Map tiles are only revealed to your line of sight, or when you move to
them (Fleet Captains, Doom, etc.)

Unit Fog - Information about the enemy units is hidden until your fire on them, they
fire on you, you scan/sense them. (Battletech strategic variant, Columbia Blocks,
Stratego)

Variable Economy - The buying and selling prices change over the course of the
game.

Like as Like Tech Tree - Technologies cost less if they are in the same line or of the
same type as another technology (Exodus: Proxima Centauri)

Modular Units - Units can be upgraded and customised using modules that only fit in
certain slots (Eclipse, Gratuitous Battles)

Point Buy System - Unit abilities and stats cost a certain number of points, allowing
the creation of two equal armies or the customization of units that have an
economic price. Defensible and advantageous land can cost points as well.

Miniatures games

Player Chosen Terrain - The players each pick the terrain available on their half of
the board.

Hidden Setup - Dummy counters are placed in the starting area along with real
ones, or a cardboard screen is set up between the oponnents. (Refrence Screen?)

Price Ladder - The farther you go, the more you have to pay , but the better the
options.
