Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration
The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with
learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the
profession.
Name of Artifact: Calendar of Events
Date: June 28, 2016
Course: EDUC 240: Physical and Health Education for Elementary Teachers
Brief Description:
This assignment was to create a calendar of healthy eating ideas and exercises that students could do with their families.
Rationale:
I think this exemplifies InTASC Standard #10 because I created a calendar and letter to send home to parents so they could get
involved with their childrens education about healthy choices. This collaboration between teacher and parents reinforces the ideas and
concepts learned in the classroom.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Dear Parents,
This week is our healthy eating and fitness week! We will be learning about the importance of eating healthy foods and
engaging in regular physical activity. As the parent, it is important for you to be involved in helping your children learn how to make
healthy decisions now so they can have a healthier future. During this week, it is crucial that you get involved with this education
process by getting out and playing with your child in the suggested activities in this calendar, or by coming up with your own.
Mealtimes are also valuable teaching opportunities. Make dinnertime fun and educational by having your child help prepare
the familys meal. This is a great way for them to learn how to take responsibility for what they eat.
